The games posted above are either standalone games or contemporary ports to a less powerful and completely different platform, necessitating changes due to different hardware and market.
Are you gonna tell me Ninja Gaiden on NES is a demake too because there was a technically more advanced arcade cabinet? Is Street Fighter 2 on SNES a demake because it has fewer pixels? No. A demake remakes a modern game for the express purpose of making it more "retro". The GBC games are not demakes because at the time they were not retro.

Why do dated graphics almost always have better lighting than modern games? Sure it's not dynamic or anything, but that room looks like it would actually be that color IRL. The last good example I've seen of lighting is the fucking Source engine.
