Playing RE7 for the first time through the twilight hours, in the dark, with headphones.

**spoopt*

Anyone else find this game to be spooky or scary? I'm just really surprised what it turned out to be. Last Resident Evil I played was that Racoon City shooter pile of shit. Is OP primed for impression because of shitty games or is RE7 actuallg a good Resident Evil/Biohazard?

This game was too fucking short, if anything else, Capcom really got back to the classics on how short the game's length is. If you got the Gold Edition and have all the DLCs, you can have fun punching shit in End of Zoe, Madhouse Mode, or go play as Nu-Chris Redfield with Not a Hero.

>Anyone else find this game to be spooky or scary?

No, not really. It's pretty interesting in VR once you turn off all the anti-motion sickness fuckery - but outside of VR it just looks like a broken VR game that had Rob Zombie consulting for the first half and then fired him so that they could just make it into a Resident Evil game. There's a bit of tension due to resource management, and the fact that for the entire first half of the game you're basically running from a series of Nemesis's - except without the randomness that keeps you on your toes past the first playthrough. Once you know to expect them, it's just a matter of avoiding their patrol routes.

Though I will say that peeking around a corner to look for enemies feels really good in VR. Just a shame that the field of view on enemies is so pathetic that you never really feel like you're in any danger. Also, the ending is complete bullshit. Why even give players the choice between Zoe and Mia if the game is just going to, not even five minutes later, tell you that you made the wrong choice and just go with the story as if you had saved Mia anyhow. Oh, wow, they added Mia ass a mini-boss fight and give you a bad ending too. Whoopty fucking do. How about a whole different Zoe scenario that loops back around to the same point at it's conclusion - but you explore some other location of relevance to Zoe and Eva that you need to see to get the FULL story? Nope, fuck that. That shit costs money to develop. Maybe that's what the whole "End of Zoe" DLC does, but I wouldn't know, because fuck buying DLC just to get what should have been included in the base game.

Also, enemy variety was fucking pathetic compared to other games. It's pretty much just the Bakers and Molded humans. No infected dogs, or birds, or gators, or even crazy monsters like Bandersnatchers and Hunters. In the end, all Resident Evil 7 really did was make me wish for a Resident Evil: Remake in VR.

000000 No.15086445

From a storytelling perspective, the DLC for this game really made fighting this game's bosses rather pointless. The Baker family had 4 threats you needed to kill off. Jack, Marguerite, Lucas, and Eveline. In the main story, RE7's protagonist only actually kills off Marguerite and Eveline. Lucas escapes and isn't truly killed off until you beat the Not a Hero DLC. And Jack somehow survives and isn't truly killed off until you beat the End of Zoe DLC.

It could have been something average to good but it's untapped potential with some bright moments.

Had they Opened up the game more instead of going full corridor with everything between the Mansion and Tanker it would have been a much better game.

The fact that you have to avoid Jack in some sections is also annoying as shit rather than create tension.

I just played it myself and it was surprisingly good, I'm looking forward to a sequel. Unfortunately it is kind of short, I'm glad 7 returned to the style of the originals in terms of horror, atmosphere, and play but the 4-5 hour length isn't something they should have emulated, or if they were going to, they should have gone with an A/B style scenario system like in RE2 to add more content.

Agreed, though that bothered me less once I got comfortable blocking instead of dodging. The thing that really bugged me about the perspective was how much more work it took to examine the environment and retrieve items than it did in previous RE games. This so much

They completely ruined resident evil after the death of wesker. 5 was already going off the rails but it was still a good game with good gameplay and sold insanely well for what it was(also the mercenaries mode was so refined it was like a second game in itself)

The rest of the resident evil games can't even achieve what RE5 did which is pathetic. Before people bitch about tank controls well 4 actually has tank controls you just don't tank while aiming, 5 removed the shittier elements of tank controls(IE not being able to sidestep which is really important) I felt like the control and melee in 5 were the absolute apex of what a resident evil game could be then after that they just kind of forgot about this gameplay style and went full 3rd person or FPS style of gameplay which just ruins the whole point of this series(now I'm playing a generic as fuck tps shooter with equally generic gay enemies and an OP as fuck knife…. what is this shit) RE6 just ruined the formula completely there is no intelligence anymore or crowd control tactics when it comes to dealing with enemies. Post 6 you literally just run around in circles and shoot dumb shit and since the enemies can't really shoot back your 3rd person abilities to run and shoot accurately make everything just pathetic.

well resident evil 2 3 and the rest of the game didn't really limit your resources. 3 artificially limited your resources with optional nemesis boss fights that you can skip by just running by him. 2 was so filled with weapons and ammo that I don't really remember being in any danger except the claire campaign.

1 is really the only argument for a game that consistently makes you backtrack and do ridiculous inventory management all the time and scavenge for ammo(still my friend who never played an RE title beat it on his first run so….) this is also probably the reason why everyone Praises REmake because REmake is actually more survival horror oriented than pretty much every single resident evil game ever made.

bab96c No.15099496

the problem with CV is artificial difficulty in the form of respawning enemies. People who don't realize this run out of ammo and fuck their save. Or if you waste all of your SMG ammo on bandersnatches on your first playthrough because you don't think they will respawn(but they will) etc.

The problem with CV just lies on the fact that it's a game with potentially unlimited enemies but limited ammo.

TBH ammo mixing is not complex if you just only do it before saving. That way you will know if you made enough pistol/shotgun rounds etc. the ammo mixing system is also awesome because you can make high pressure loads after like I think 10 times of making a form of ammo so you can get high pressure pistol and shotgun rounds etc. Ammo mixing just added to the fun of the game too bad you can't use the enhanced ammo in the guns that nemesis drops.

Bull fucking shit. That's the only RE I run out of handgun ammo, which I just switch over to shotgun or bow, in all of the other ones you end up with at least a decent sized cache of ammo.
