Is it just me, or have that stopped really progressing after Indiana Jones 2? They introduced the idea of player created levels and then just dropped it. Lego Star Wars 3 was kinda cool in that they added to the ability to have hundreds of lego characters all on the screen at once in a giant battle, and that you can be on the the different factions' ships which had their own special levels and challenges, but then they just went back to LEGO OT levels of basic.

The Travelers Tales Lego formula has kind of hit too stable. Most of them have a gimmick but they all boil down to using the same set of abilities under different names to fight varying amounts of enemies depending on the license and solve puzzles
And it's always enjoyable

Not a chance, Traveller's Tales has an exclusive contract to make Lego games and they just keep reusing the same engine from 2005 with just some additions. They even said they're not ever gonna make a racing game because they can't program driving properly.

Basically since they made console versions the development on the game has slowed down to a crawl. Their more focused on doing quality of life shit for building rather than adding in actual content. The survivor mode that people have been wanting since it's announcement is on ice.

The Ninjago City 70620 and Ninjago City Docks 70657 are fucking filled with references to past lego series. Ninjago City has references like the M-Tron logo, Rocket Racer logo, even the failed Gaildor series.
While Docks has the previously mentioned Junkbot arcade cabinet reference there's also the Exploriens logo, Adventures Island Hopper plane travel poster, etc.

Lego Battles is my favorite, it's like a simple Blizzard RTS on DS, (embed related) it's worth loading onto a flashcart if you have one, it's got 6 campaigns with 15 levels each
the early Batman, Indiana Jones, and Star Wars are the best licensed property games
the PC chess game taught me how to play chess, I had the other PC games but the only one I could get working was Island 2, which I thought was fun, but I could never get past the adventure island, also Creator but I was too retarded to build anything with it at the time

My thoughts exactly. For a while it really seemed like they were trying new things with each game, and then they just… stopped.
Going back and playing the original Lego Star Wars, too, it really shows that the formula they've been recycling over and over again for the last something like fourteen years was really something that they came up with for that game specifically that they really should have let go of and done something new instead of when they decided to make more Lego games afterward.
