What I also don't get is why nu-vidya companies bother keeping everything as DRM-ridden when:
1) Their target consumer isn't Johnny B. Torrent but Joana xer/xir/xerself Shekelstein and xir whaleish behavior in spending for lootboxes
2) Mods are the lifeblood of modern vidya development and autists with too much free time will fix your own game for free if you let them into it with more ease than waiting around for a few years for an anti-drm patch
3) Releasing an unfinished game means nothing, as people who buy vidya will do so regardless of the final product and as long as they get convenient apologies or patches to make them look important
