As far as I know it's a bit lighter and a lot simpler. It's not just for digital painting, you can draw with it just like SAI - although Krita has a fuckton more brushes and it's free.

The eyes are too small. The eyes in the Futo reference clearly take up more of the face than the eyes in the Aqua reference while the final image has the eyes drawn smaller than both references. Might also be beneficial to keep the iris/pupil simplified as seen in the Aqua reference.

When I'm practicing drawing something should I just try to draw it without setting it up with a light, rough, hairy-lined sketch going into inking it? Or am I allowed to do a rough sketch and then go on top of it? It seems like doing the latter would help you focus more on defining form since after getting proportion and line location down you can focus more on the line thickness. On the other hand, it seems like keeping the training wheels on when I should be learning to ride the bike so to speak.
