I could get over the boring combat, i could get over the shitty story, but fuck how much you have to backtrack to do quests.

I don't play many RPGs, but don't they all follow this same model? Skyrim rolls around and lets you DO EVERYTHING in a really lame way and suddenly every RPG is supposed to be like that?

Most of the mages had close ties with the royalty all around the northern realms and yes, the plot to assassinate the kings was Nilfgaard's doing for the most part but let's not pretend that Sheala, Phillippa and other mages wanted to benefit from it and that my friend is called high treason.

While I agree that Radovid went too far and got too paranoid, you have to consider that he was the last man standing in a war against the biggest empire known to man and he couldn't count on mages so the odds were pretty much 9 to 1 against him. That's not even touching on the conspiracies to kill him from within his own kingdom.

And despite all of that, the fucker ends up winning, provided you don't interfere with the war. Yeah the world gets "worse" with all the witch hunts and shit but the witcher world has never been a happy place.

If you're OK with Nilfgaard winning the war then you're pretty much siding with a egotistical maniac that ruined the lives of millions just because he wanted to have a bigger yard. Emyr is the reason everything goes to shit.

RPGs that offer everything to you in one playthrough suck. You need to have some things that can be missed, others that lock you out because of choices you made or your character's stats. The Witcher 1: Genocide non-human filth while collecting momentos of the women you've conquered. Set up a proper society with Siegfried, form a relationship with a pure and true woman, Shani. Take care of children.
