It's a travesty frankly.
It's not really a gundam breaker game where you go through levels and defeat PG bosses, it's basically a simon says party game where you're thrown into arenas and forced to do menial tasks to gain stars against time.
Unlike previous games you can only collect 5 parts at a time (instead of just picking up runners) and have to deposit them into a randomly spawning box that jumps around after every deposit you do on the battlefield. It doesn't help that you can also drop a haul of parts by simply getting hit and that your AI companions can also deposit parts causing the box to move to the next spawn location.
You can't spec into different weapons with different parts to do stupid damage, instead you select a frame and that defines your stats.
Your parts give you different EX moves.
You can gain stat boosts by putting builders parts on your unit but it doesn't tell you in numbers it just says "slightly inceases attack".
The performance is shocking. My PS4 gets absurdly hot and absurdly loud when resting in the menus but ingame it seems to cool down.
The game stutters for long periods of time and makes me think it's crashed when it hasn't. (this only happens ingame)
To even use your equipped EX moves you have to crack open boxes on the battlefield and opening boxes is vital to gain momentum ingame or else you'll be hit-stunned into oblivion by the AI.
The story is just some overt waifu bait trash about some highschool shit. Literally just "YOU LIKE GUNDAM ANON? I LIKE GUNDAM TOO, PLS STUFF UR DICK IN MY PUSSY TO JACK UP JAPAN'S BIRTHRATE DESU, REMEMBER TO BUY THE AFTER WAR GUNDAM X BLU RAY YOU CHEAP FUCK ONLY 9000 YEN"
It doesn't even do you the justice of showing you a fuckin panty shot and the characters look like they all have down syndrome.

Feddies have access to shit like the FA ZZ Gundam, The RX-0 and a ton of other BS suits. the game went from a grunt slug fest to every other gundam game out there in that if you want to really win you need to use the latest OP suits.
That isn't to say the core of "skill is the ultimate factor" is gone, just buried under the fact that most suits now stomp all over zeon low cost suits. Even when we hit zeta era, feds got Titans suits and we just got reworks of different already existing suits.

Anon I'm going to need you to understand the concept of what Nuance is before you read any further.
For the record there IS a cash shop in MSGO. However you can't outright BUY shit. even the suits are simply rentals, after 20 matches they're useless. the only way to get suits is through the gashapon systems in place or buy a BP which requires in game points.
The gasha system itself is broken into two parts, the DX, which is for all intents and purposes the cash one and the GP one, which is now one big grabbag. The difference is the GP one has limitless rolls, meaning you'll always get different things and you're better off buying the BP with points saved up. GP Gasha can still be a good source of Blue Prints.
DX gasha has 3-4 with the oldest one being cycled out. Unlike the GP gasha there is a definitive limit to the contents of each one and as a result you WILL eventually get what you want from it.
Then there is the EX Gasha, which only happens for events and some suits I believe still are strictly EX gasha suits, meaning if you weren't there you're SoL. They shared a similar design to the DX gasha, they could be farmed due to their limited # nature. So you could farm things like DX Gasha tickets as you got a good amount of tickets per match back in the day, though after they changed it to award tickets based on whether you won or lost made it a bit harder. NEETS as usual came out on top in these situations either way.
As for the "cash money" items. There aren't many, and even then there are no items that give a actual edge, most of the cash shop items are BGM tracks for in game. But if you're like me you end up turning off BGM and using your own music through like WMP or something. DX and Master Mechanic tickets, especially now. Are so easy to get a hold of through normal play you'd laugh at people who spent money on them.
The gameplay itself is more skill based than anything, there are no I frames to abuse, even a Zaku I can beat out a high end suit like the FAZZ. Suit stats do play a part, so again the FAZZ is clearly stronger and even in the hands of a novice it's destructive. But again skilled pilots can trash rookies fairly easy with low cost and low end suits.
Even then out of the box, a suit you've just built has only stock stats with minor boosts based on if the build was a success or critical success. You have to upgrade your suits stats in the hangar, the meta since the game launched has always been to focus on upgrading the frame rating to allow it to carry more weight, thus reducing the chance of being staggered or knocked down. This is more vital now considering the introduction of the "balance meter" introduced awhile back. Said meter itself is basically a 3 stage meter. The meter's depletion while being shot at depends on your weight, how close it is to the carry capacity of your suit, and the strength of the shots in question. The bars are Green, orange and empty, when the green bar is depleted, you get staggered and if you're boosting a chunk of your gauge is eaten. If the orange bar is depleted you're forced to a knee, that is if you're on the ground. If you're caught flying through the air and this meter depletes, you're sent plummeting to the ground, unable to defend yourself till your suit gets back up. Now remember what I said about no I Frames? The entire time that suit is vulnerable to enemy fire. even when it's going through it's "getting back up" animation. This means even the strongest suits need to beware of concentrated fire, or else they'll be staggered or put into a position that leaves them unable to fight back.

Melee is another things, in MSGO suits are classed based;

Typically only assault has a melee weapon, some HAs get melee, but typically it's reserved for their gold BP. Melee has two forms, a standard attack, and a charge attack, done by attacking with melee while boosting. Typically this is a forward lunge, which when connects, knocks the victim on their ass like being knocked out of the sky by sustained fire. This is abused as typically, against stronger suits is you want to chain this knock down so the victim is essentially stun locked.

This traps the enemy more or less, of course you're still 100% vulnerable and in a melee dash, sustained fire takes you down quicker. Some suits have variants of their melee, like wepaons the melee weapons are broken into various types, stock, O, T, D

>O is less damage, but wider hitbox
>T is a direct upgrade to stock, typically a different hitbox with a different dash attack animation
>D strongest, eats up the most boost when attacking, different animation and hitbox from T, O and Stock
Some suits have different melee weapons or even DII or DIII in some cases. Examples are the Zaku I, which gets it's standard heathawk melee and another melee variant which is a short range shoulder tackle like Gadeem did in MSG. The trade off is the shoulder charge has less range in the dash, but it's stronger in knockback, capable of sending suits flying backwards when struck. DII and DIII are typically multi stage melee, The Gundam Pixie and the Dom High speed test type are two examples, where after the first dash attack you can execute another one, with DII being two stage and DIII being 3 stage respectively. These subsequent attacks can also be redirected from the initial lunge, so it's not uncommon for a suit like a Pixie to dash forward, hit a target and then turn around with the followup dash pointed at the downed target.

Weapons, like melee are broken up into types. The types vary in the stats of the weapon, from damage, to spread to reload rate and even amount of ammo in a magazine and available. Usually used by players who can't aim or feel like stock doesn't quite have enough shots, M type shotgun users aren't uncommon as each pellet does damage itself and combined with a large magazine, suits like the Kampfer are a nightmare in the hands of a good pilot if using the M type shotgun. H is high accuracy, your reload time is longer and you do do less damage than stock (still a bit more than M), but the trade off is less ammo than stock, but a higher accuracy. F type weapons are the strongest, they do the most damage, but typically have a worse reload rate than stock and the smallest ammo pool. Typically you'll see people opt into the F type weapons for things like Bazookas and the Chargeable Beam Rifles. S is typically exclusive to explosives, artillery, missiles, zooks. Not as much damage as F types, but up there. the offset is these are fast, at the cost of explosion radius and IIRC distance before the warheads detonate (or in the case of artillery, a smaller area you can target). Typically you see these on aquatic suit like the Z'Gok that use missiles underwater.
FII is rare and typically seen only on things like the guntank's bob guns and artillery suits. Same schtick as F weapons, lotta power, but low ammo count in the mag before reload and low available ammo before needing a resupply.
B types are even rarer, usually found only on Zooks. These are weapons that trade damage for a bigger splash damage radius.

More or less they ripped out most of the factions in game and boiled it down to Zeon vs EF and Neo Zeon vs EFSF.
While a lot of mechanics work better in this. However it's kneecapped a lot and the AI is more cheaty than Menace of Axis and olver titles. Really it burns down to lack of actual content and most of the content being locked behind a DLC pay wall.

Pretty easy to work with, you'll only need a guide for the suit modification parts. Most of the suits can only be gained by playing online though, otherwise you'll have a really limited selection in the campaign mode. If you do multiplayer, it has a fucking tonne of suits.

I recommend watching the original Mobile Suit Gundam dubbed
the japanese language version has fairly flat delivery throughout; the actors were clearly treating it like another job and likely weren't too enthused about its prospects (real robots being a new and risky genre at the time). The english language version has the actors, cheesy as they are, emoting fairly well

G was made to be more of a super robot show with the idea of "everyone has a gundam" to encourage model kit sales. Wing was made to try and cater to fujoshis.
