>What is SS13?
Space Station 13 is an atmospheric simulator in a plasma research facility funded and operated by a corporation known only as NanoTrasen. There are several roles to choose from under employment of the corporation. Such as scientists, doctors, engineers, security officers, chefs, and even the captain himself. Your goal is to survive each round doing your assigned job. Each role is unique to it's counter-parts with plenty of responsibilities and duties to accomplish until the emergency shuttle is inevitably called. Or if you're lucky you can become the antagonist of the round, killing anyone who gets in your way to achieve your own personal goals. Every round is unique to the last so if you think the next one will be the same as the current one you are in for a surprise.
>How do I play?
It's played on a shady program known as BYOND. It's free through and through and you need only to download the game through it's client and play any of the publicly listed or private servers.
>Playing scares me
Part of SS13's charm is that mistakes are unavoidable. It's part of the experience, even to veterans. Whether you blow up the station or release a super deadly virus it's bound to happen. You just have to grab your nuts and jump in head first. You can also join as an assistant if it's your first time and learn the ropes since assistants basically have no responsibility as the name implies. If you REALLY feel that intimidated by the game, you can also spectate the round as a ghost to sort of get the feel of the game before you dip your toes in the shallow end of the metaphorical pool.
Got any favorite servers in particular? What was your worst/best fuck up?
