It depends not just on the type, but the actual model number, or more specifically, what the oldest firmware on the system was. Granted, I stopped following much on that front after the Thanksgiving Exploit, but at least for what I've been aware of, if the system's oldest firmware was 3.56 or lower, and the current (at least as of the time) OFW it was running was 4.82, it could take the exploit and be CFWable. All fats fell within range of that, and a number of slim models did as well, while superslims, at least back then, were completely out of luck; however, some slims of the same model number won't take it while other ones will, varying on the production date. There is a file you can run via flash drive on the system called Minverchk. Via "Update from USB", the system will spit back at you what the oldest firmware the system has on it is, and you can learn if your system is even compatible or not.
