FtNW at least still had decent music, monster designs, and the most refined combat system in the series going for it. Gravity Rush series can be surprising in this regard, it's not the ultimate scare or unsettling imagery but it does come very unexpectedly and strongly clashes with the impression the game gives. The director worked in the first SH and the Siren games.
The Witcher 2 and 3 have some interesting portions, usually haunted places like the burned asylum in 2 and the wight in 3.
American McGee's Alice and its unfortunately rushed sequel also have their share of moments, particularly with unsettling props that appear in the late portions of a area.

e233c3 No.15033777

Yeah, I understand. The biggest flaw in this game is the fact that it is very easy to pit yourself into a death scenario which isn't good if the game is supposed to be slow paced. Another issue I noticed is how easy it is to get lost on the objective at times.
I'd say that the second one is much better but the flaws are still present. Although, they did try to respond to the problems of the first game with the following add-ins.
>More monster variety that must be countered in specific ways (throwing stuff at them and shining/not shining your light at them)
>more items for survival like a portable trash bag to hide in
>trinkets that give passive buffs like more running stamina
>a lot more "events" that make exploration more appealing
>objectives are not as vague anymore
long story short, if you sat through the first one and don't mind another one then go ahead.

Man, we got so close to having Half-Life have tons of expansion packs, but Valve pulled the plug. There was going to be all kinds of shit. Imagine 2 Opposing Force level games every year for the past 10 years. Ted Backman and Mark Laidlaw had so much vision for the Half-Life universe, but there just wasn't enough interest within the company to keep the series going. It's such a shame, because while HL2 wasn't all that interesting, Episode 2 got a LOT of cool shit in it.
I can't help but imagine all the cool ideas Valve had that never came to light because everyone would have rather worked on VR and Dota.
