7 is trash but it's good for the Drift Hoppers I guess, they tried to shoe horn in E-sports and Loot Boxes in it so all the content is super overpriced but thankfully you can just run Cheat engine and just give yourself 999999999999999 credits.

Cheat engine doesn't work with Horizon 3 but it's legitimately the best modern racing game out there and you will 100% it fast, the snow expansion is kinda mediocre and the Hotwheels Expansion is frankly the greatest hotwheels game ever made, even better than World race and it hurts my soul that it's just an expansion because I'd buy a full game of it in a heartbeat if it meant I could have my Acceleracers cars.

Something with good mouse steering support like Live For Speed or Race07 to get you started, If you like them, invest in a wheel and have fun with more advanced games like Project Cars, Assetto Corsa etc. You can get mouse support for Dirt Rally and indeed a bunch of other games that don't traditionally support it, but it's a bit of a pain in the ass to get working correctly, and my PC recently died so I forgot the process.

Racing games need a way to block autistic players. This happened in Grid 2 and also happens in Wreckfest. There is always at least one autist who is so bad at the game that he just reverses and crashes into people. And I would be okay with it if they were actually good players. I wouldn't mind if the guy who finished first 3 times in a row did a little bit of griefing just to mess with the rest of us. But it is always the faggot who finishes last that spergs out. And Grid 2 was the worst because whenever someone crashed into you, you would also get a time penalty because the game has no clue who caused the crash.

Listen to the engine and glance at that RPM gauge and change when it gets into the red line.

Downshift going into corners so you have the acceleration to come out of them.

NEVER shift in the middle of a turn or you'll spin.

a more advanced technique is to check the power graph of the car you're driving and try to stay where peak power is with your shifts once you're up to speed. If you don't have access to power graphs a basic rule of thumb is to rev High with a petrol engined car and to rev low with a Diesel

>crash simulator

It's more like a sandbox. There are racing tracks and most people race but you don't have that Flatout arcade shit anymore which I loved. Let me make some screenshots real quick. As you can see, the campaign consists mostly of races. And online most people race too

One thing that really pisses me off is the unrealistic upgrades. My Nexus RX for example was meant to be a class c racing car. I put a steal beam in front of it because every once in a while I crash into people but I have nothing in the back off it. So instead of being super hard in the front, and being weak at the back, the armor is spread all over the car. This is really annoying me.

I also hate how simple the performance upgrades are. I remember in Forza (idk how they do it in newer parts) you could upgrade certain parts, but they would also come with a drawback, e.g. faster max speed but lower acceleration and stuff like that. In this game they did it the lazy way, e.g. most expensive upgrade is the best. In Forza changing the engine would also sometimes have drawbacks.

The only problem is that drifting with a wheel in forza is next to impossible and some of the cars are a bit expensive and even after you complete the game 100% you still won't have enough for ALL the cars and the PC version doesn't support Cheat engine, however there is a debug version that was accidentally released that you can mod back into the game which lets you fuck around with NPC cars and give them 1,000,000 horsepower.

After that there's still a simulator that doesn't work because the government doesn't understand that high latency is bad for driving simulators and that low latency requires good computers.

Everyone I've talked with said it's laggy as shit, the instructor knows it's laggy as shit, does't even care and isn't even looking at your screen. There's even a hue youtuber that told his driving school story where the brake pedal wasn't working and his instructor didn't even look and just said "it's working, just do it", somehow he managed to pass the test without the brake.

Then comes the actual test, which is fine, but the instructor is pretty hit or miss. My mother put the key in before fastening the seatbelt, so form that moment on until almost at the end of the test he kept telling her to give up and that she had pretty much already failed, though she only did that wrong so he had to pass her.

Still, the psychological test is the worst, after it was implemented a bunch of people that already had expired driving licenses failed exclusively because of it, though most of them just said fuck it and started driving around with an expired license, specially the ones that needed it for work, it's a third world country after all.

Will we ever see a car go beyond the 270-280 mph limit? At this point I don't think it's a technical limit but an overall safety limit as to how fast a machine a human being can actually operate on the ground

But god damn what would really be impressive is seeing the Chirons twin turbo W16 engine power something like a Tank or a fucking NASA Crawler-Transporter sized vehicle

>>15035872

I know its hard to realize now because you're probably really stressed out behind the wheel (I know I was) but driving instructors will really grade you by how much you're looking around while driving. Always keep your eyes moving and scanning the road for anything that might come your way. When I first took my test (and passed) the instructor was impressed that I was able to check my rear-view mirror in a turn lane to make sure the cars behind me could fit for example. Just something to keep in mind

some manual tips in no particular order

-learn what your car sounds like, so you don't need to glance at gauges to shift up/down after awhile. this is without a doubt the most important part of racing with a standard transmission

-do you know what engine braking is? each gear has a maximum speed it'll want to go (picture a 10 speed bike in first; no matter how hard you pedal you'll never go very fast). you can use this to your advantage to slow down very quickly before a turn without actually hitting the brakes, which will fuck with your turning radius. protip: don't do this in real life unless your transmission is built for this purpose

-never, ever, ever downshift in a turn unless you fancy spinning the fuck out

-you can actually use engine braking in order to get a slide going midway through a turn without touching the e-brake. hammer your way into a turn, clutch in/downshift while still revving the engine while you go into said turn, and dump the clutch while halfway through. if you're on dirt/gravel/snow this'll cause the drive wheels to spin like crazy and you can get some initial D shit going on, but you need to be ready for the sudden shift in traction. useful trick if like me you don't have a handbrake peripheral

-if you're playing dirt rally or any other rally games where a codriver is calling out the degrees of turns, a solid rule of thumb is that they call out the rough gear that you can handle that turn in. so if your codriver calls out "right 5 100 to left 3" he's saying you can likely handle that right turn in fifth gear, but in a hundred meters you need to downshift to third (or so) to handle the upcoming left

Try playing the the games with a custom heavy soundtrack. You'll be glad you did.

I tried custom soundtracks once with Paradise, but the music doesn't react when you crash, it just kept playing when you do and it's very jarring.

While I can't speak for Paradise, playing Takedown and Revenge on OG Xbox with an integrated custom soundtrack comprised of old heavy metal made the games 10 time more fun than they already were.

Seriously, try going back to playing Road Rage mode with that faggy emo music after you've got Painkiller coming out your speakers.

I'll give it a shot next time I have an Xbone in some form. I will say thought that Burnout needs a certain pop or positive vibe for its music, given how much sunshine and not serious the game takes itself.

New to driving sims, playing PC2 right now and messing arond with the RX mode. Is there a point to even using a clutch in this game? It doesnt seem to simulate gearbox/engine damage at all when I shift through gears without hitting the clutch. Hell I can shift from 5th to 2nd without clutch and nothing would happen. Also, what are good guides on tuning your car?

Yes and no. They nerfed clutch damage/gear grinding stuff into oblivion after babies cried about it {Which is fucking retarded]. You can shift a handful of ms faster with it than without it though. As far as car tuning goes, it depends on the car. Just look up viperconcepts tuning guides, or anyones. Then pick a random car and try to tune the evil out of it.

Also, no The Crew 2 actually is fun.

Have you got the clutch set to automatic?

You can drive it in Manual but without clutch, like a sequential, which is the default for manual, you have to set it up so the clutch has to be used. You also have to turn damage on.

192c64 No.15129774

Late in the thread and all, but I'm playing Dirt, and finding that I have to turn my wheel a lot in order to get good steering going and at that it's extremely loose. Not sure if that's intended given other arcade games like Super Off Road had the same sorta feel for it, and I'm just not adjusted to it given my history in Gran Turismo.

I watched a steam. It looks good, the surrealist shit at the start looks really fun and it seems to be fun with friends, but it's made by the fucktards at ubisoft so

<mandatory Uplay

<too incompetent to make a proper GPS, if you're too far from your waypoint it just draws a straight line through buildings

<bland map with a whole lot of nothing

<Annoying fuck that makes Burnout Paradise's radio guy seems nice

<shit music

<planes, boats and cars seems nice to fuck around with friends, but they're not anything in special by their own

<casualized to shit

I'll stick to BeamNG and NFSU.

You better tune your engine to HP for increased RPM, alongside driving with manual transmission for even more RPM (you know what I mean). I'm disappointed.

NFS MW has this same transmission issue too.
