It's probably been added so psychologists have a "legal framework" to operate with in the very rare cases (at least in western countries) where there is indeed a videogame addiction. There recently was a case in my country where one 9 year old girl got to the point she peed herself in her pants just to keep playing Fortnite, so I would argue that kid really needed some therapy. And better parents.

The real problem is, how will this be abused? It needs to be recognized so the very rare cases in which stuff like this happens can be responded accordingly, but considering the (((psychology community))), chances are it eventually gets overdiagnosed for people who only play videogames in their free time or often skip and hour or two of sleep to play games. It's certainly not very healthy, but fuck, it's not like we are in any real danger while doing that, but just like any mild symptoms of ADHD get immediately treated with the worst shit you can put in your body at the smallest sign, or the actual reason behind the rise of autism cases protip: psychologists gonna jew, we will probably soon have an epidemic of videogame enthusiasts getting reformed to boost their productivity.
