Because not everything is on gog. I mean for fucks sake they still don't have the Paradise Lost expansion for Postal 2. I mostly use gog for easy access to older titles that can run on my craptop as I don't have Steam installed on it or want to or just supporting DRM free versions of certain titles.
I do like their reclaim your game thing where I was able to get gog edtions of STALKER by using the CD key from the retail editions as well as linking your Steam account to get some DRM free versions. Sadly the Steam thing is only for a limited time at random points of the year and only for certain titles.
