Even just 10 years ago I feel like tech companies would avoid doing any sort of blatant political pandering because they didn't want to risk pissing off any segment of the population that could potentially be customers. It's so weird how these organizations are openly telling potential customers to go fuck themselves with virtue signalling now. Like they don't need to worry about profits to stay afloat. SJWs may hate fucking white males, but they'll glad accept your money and then use it to further their efforts to ruin everything. I used to be able to ignore that kind of stuff but it's so blatant now that it pisses me off. My refusal to buy shit from SJW companies may not be enough to send them tumbling into bankruptcy, but I at least know that I didn't contribute to the spread of Marxism.

USB has more latency than the old school I/O ports that were hardware interrupt-driven. Might be possible to rig something up on the Pi, since those boards have all kinds of pins for whatever you want to do. Maybe someone has already done this as a project (worth doing a web search to find out). For the PC, if you can find an old PCI Sounblaster or other sound card (and the necessary drivers for it), those often had a joystick port that was also interrupt-driven. On my first PC, I had an ISA bus Pro Audio Spectrum 16 with a joystick port, and there wasn't any lag whatsoever when playing games with a Gravis gamepad in DOS.
