Freeshop and FBI weren't the same.
If you're asking when you'll be able to install .NSP similar to cia on FBI the answer is "soon". In addition to the TX dongle there is an opensource solution being worked on by the Reinand dev.
If you're asking about a Freeshop type program the answer to that is, probably longer because nobody is exactly certain on how Nintendo is handling downloads from their servers on the Switch.

The github itself was last updated four days ago, which was right before all the layeredfs garbage happened that allowed protopiracy. I'm not sure if layeredfs support was added to the atmosphere github though since, as far as I'm aware, that was hekate allowing that
The project goals for atmosphere haven't been updated since early in May, which doesn't mean there has been no progress obviously there has been but that they aren't keeping the git as up to date as they actually are.

I'm not new to this. Piracy on my Wii U used to rely entirely on loading a payload from a URL (or local IP using some hosting application) then starting Loadiine from the SD card, a method which had limited compatibility with games. Later they found a way to install games to an external HDD and run them as though they'd been installed through legitimate means.
Piracy on the 3DS was solely limited to the Gateway3DS flashcart and later some imitations. It was stuck, exclusive to flashcarts for years, because anti-piracy cucks in the softmodding/hacking scene refused to release anything useful to pirates. Same story with Switch, the softmodding/hacking scene is ridden with genuinely mentally ill cucks and trannies who are virulently anti-piracy and hold up progress on having good working piracy on these platforms.
For how long will the Switch be stuck with beta-testing piracy methods of limited compatibility? Hopefully not for as long as the Wii U.

That IS a concern, I cannot argue against that one, though, I don't know if piracy directly correlates with 3rd parties leaving, since the most pirates Nintendo games have always been first parties (Super Mario Galaxy 2, Pokemon Platinum) for example.
I honestly have always seen Nintendo to have never been an attractive outlet to 3rd party devs, even during the gamecube era, when the PS2 was the weakest link graphically, it had the most games.
I'm blaming marketing on this one, devs don't see Nintendo as mature, but with Cuckenstein, Nudoom and L.A Noire, that might change, or it might be another dicktease with a trickle of small AAA titles that "dipper their toes" in the water per say.

I think it's a bit of a combination of factors. If 3rd party devs see their game as being low volume selling they might not go to a console with high piracy rates or easy piracy.

You have to go down to the fifteenth highest selling DS title to get something that isn't a Nintendo developed title and you have to go down to twenty-seventh to get a title Nintendo didn't touch at all. either through developing, publishing locally, or publishing worldwide

It was probably delayed explicitly because of pirates racing to crack it, so they'd at least get the first few waves of sales before it's reverse-engineered, and they still have a useful sale in the form of the dongle to anybody who wants an easy RCM method even after being cracked. It's also pretty nicely programmed, the Switch's own OS treats it as part of itself since I could take a screenshot inside of it and it had the screen effects from inserting or removing joycons.

Only difficulty I've had with mine came from trying to mod them, tried replacing the shells and reassembled them perfectly fine but the backs would refuse to snap back on and the screws wouldn't go back in correctly on the outer casing, even after trying to go back to the original shells. It appears to only be checking that the signature it asks for is valid but it ISN'T checking to make sure the signature matches the game. The issues with freezing/crashing look to just be jenk with an immature method.

The Switch uses eFuses to keep track of system updates, and effectively it burns a tiny fuse whenever your system updates its firmware and judges whether the update is new or old by its own count of fuses. SX OS had no fuse-burn protection so anybody that used it and updated their firmware would instantly have fuses burned regardless of burn-protection, fucking over anybody that wanted to keep their Switch on a low firmware. Ultimately there's no real benefit to keeping your Switch on a low firmware due to the RCM method being completely hardware; the main benefit touted is that maybe possibly in the far future there will be a coldboot exploit on 3.0.0 and lower Switch versions maybe we can't say for certain.
Also look into soft wire for a homemode jig rather than a paperclip, you can damage your joycon rail contacts if you're rough with it or the metal is hard. You can also use tin-foil if you don't have soft wire anywhere. A 2mm-wide and 1/2 inch to 1 inch long strip folded down onto pins 9 and 10 on the right joycon and taped down for security works as an impromptu jig, and I've had more success with it than I have with paperclips or even most 3D printed jigs.

All hacks need an entry point. Without RCM, they'll have to rely on Nintendo's own mistakes, which are fewer and farther between. Granted the scene has been making better progress than the 3DS scene did at this point, I think. But given that most people doing any actual development think 5.0 on is some degree of fucked, I don't think we'll be seeing anything on revised Switches for a long time. Not saying it won't happen, just don't expect too much. Then again this is Nintendo, I imagine we'll find an unpatchable exploit like the 3DS has. Hey fags, I found out how to update games that are backups.
You just need to launch each individual game 1 time on cfw, and reboot back to ofw to update the games, but when i say be careful, do it at your own risk; the fact that game updates download in OFW means that you don't need a cert to download them. It downloads the game update without a cartridge inserted basically, I've just booted with Official FW and updated all of the games then rebooted to CFW. Software updates work. I don't think you can get banned if you clear log and unlink NOA with devmenu. Bans can come in waves strangely enough, theres no real automated detection systems in place as far as we know.
If you've already been banned, call Nintendo customer support, they'll remove it and issue a warning.

My guess is that "HD rumble" is one of the issues. If you use a normal controller that has rumble it acts like it has parkinsons since it was never designed for precise rumbling. Could be also the NFC scanner and the IR beam but I doubt it with that being widely available tech.

The IR Sensor, the haptic/smart rumble, acceleramators and gyroscopes, etc. I don't doubt the controllers are cheap to make (as most consumer goods are) but there's some initial expenses some companies aren't willing to eat.
Which would explain why the wired pro controllers are only 20 bucks, since it's typical controller tech, but are missing things like HD rumble, and motion controls or wireless connectivity.
8bitdo controllers are pretty beefy for the cost though, I heard the 2.0 versions of their controllers are going to have rumble and sheeeit.

No, it's basically a repeat of the Gateway 3DS had. If you go online with any of the games, you'll most certainly be banned unless you use a private certificate. eShop and DLC aren't supported yet but will be soon*tm*, same with type-2 cards (but the only good game on a type-2 card right now is Tennis Aces)

Don’t be dumb when using LayeredFS. Whenever you get an error for it, Nintendo tracks it and sees that it is a CFW error, making it a high chance for you to be banned.

Nx-dreport doesn’t clear play logs either, which Nintendo mainly cares about; and even if you just play a game over another, Nintendo can see it’s a different game than usual by the npdm and the exefs in general.
Just be sure to clear as many of your logs as possible before enabling wifi. There is an option in system settings to turn off share error information as well, do that, and stop sending any data to Nintendo.
You can be (mostly) safe with recovering your clean, virgin NAND.
As long as the NAND dump is not corrupt and has been free of any homebrew/hacks, it is safe.

The backup loader only works in licensed mode.
Apparently the backup loader itself isn't exactly new either and just wasn't put together in the configuration TX is using.
I'm guessing a "working" free backup loader solution will be coming within the next week since hexkyz is so salty about TX he essentially gave away 95% of their piracy "solution" and pointed everybody to the code that does it.
All that has to happen now is somebody wanting to make a name for themselves reassembling the code in a similar configuration OR hexkyz just releases the source to SX OS outright.
