But they hoped France and Britain would defend them, since they were their allies. Then Münich happened, but rather than being seen as some major evil by Hitler, it was and still is seen mainly as a betrayal from France and Brits. Especially when Cezchoslovakia wasn't even present at the negotiations – in its hour of need, it was simply informed by it's "allies" that it should get fucked and hand over its clay to Hitler. USSR then did some kvetching and said that they couldn't help due to not being allowed military access through Poland (something heavily used by communists propaganda later on, about how USSR wanted to help, but couldn't, even though it's bullshit), but with Austrian front undefended and both Hungary and Poland itching to also grab a piece, Beneš determined that resistance would be futile (to great dissent - many still view him as a traitor) and that was that.

That game is something of a guilty pleasure of mine because, while I can extract all sorts of ebin meemees and fuck around with every mod under the sun, it doesn't take away from the fact that the flaws always remain in some form or another. No matter how many modded vehicles, events, resource rebalancing and other elements you can cram in there, it still feels off and has problems you can't ignore. Stuff like the retarded AI, the piss-poor implementation of infrastructure, the mana bars, the awful optimization at late game among others will always stay there, no matter the mods available.

Well the Empire of Italia could technically be WRE. But historically it didn't exist by that time due to all the Germanics already settling in.

You automatically get released from the vassalship if you rise to an Emperor. So you could do it even without a war.

I refuted manifest destiny with the help of the GB. I got pretty lucky because GB cut them to size and destroyed most of their troops. After that, as soon as the truce ended, I declared war and occupied every province until the civil war happened, so the FSA and CSA got cores. Also Cascadia got released at somepoint. After that, I kept going to war with the USA to take their states then returning those cores to the FSA, who was my puppet because I took a state like Iowa and released them. How Cascadia got that strong, I will never know.

Depends how far you wanna go, this was just a test run. Japan gets access to the Entente very near the start of the war. After that you can go island hopping or join the European theater.

It really is if you just wanna play with the tech tree, naval dreadnoughts, and WW1 aircraft. The Bismarck Archipelago's garrisons can't put up much of a fight. The British essentially lock down the Pacific theater. The War in Europe presents a challenge; well developed and heavily fortified, landing and establishing your own front can be quite difficult.

Darkest Hour with the Grand Campaign mod is very interesting as Japan, aside from carrying you 1914 to 1990, the British sea bases give you quick access to *any* nation you can declare war on. Of course if they're already concentrated in the area it's best to send cavalry divisions; works well for claiming Arabia.

It was ambitious once intending to bridge 1900 to 1970, but it still remains as a strictly 1936 game. The author suggested the possibility of a return for a final push into 5.0 but is quite busy.
