It's pretty plain, that this Daemon X Machina game is the spiritual successor to Armored core. It looks like it's going back to AC:FA in terms of speed with true airborne combat again.

However, the combat sequences vs the giant robots looked pretty scripted. Thoughts fellow AC fans?

Designing mechs might be fun, but what's the point if it's so autistic that nobody plays the game, so you don't get a chance to actually play against people? ACV and ACVDs problem, was that 80% of the parts were useless because of how overly complex the stats were. AC4 and FA shared this issue, but with the added shitheap that was the chip system that you had to autitiscally grind mission to fully max out to even be able to compete vs other players.

Watching the E3 demonstration, the game plays pretty much exactly like AC2, with a slower more methodical pace. If you liked the original trilogy, you'll like this game it seems.

Not really. Armored core is a mech fighting game where your robot is completely customization, with a bunch of different parts. The game got progressivly faster until V, where they slowed the game down immensely. The most popular entries are the 2 series (2 had a bunch of spin-off games that all act more like expansion packs) 3 and For Answer (A spin off of 4). Each game features two primary modes, the story mode and the arena mode. Arena mode is just a tower of progressivly harder opponents. Story mode is a chain of missions that branch a bit in terms of story.

2 is the best starting point and the 'purest' experience you can get.

I don't like it at all. AC is dead. The garage was nice, but it was still a static collection on the wall, of your garage list. I would have liked to see equipping actually mounts to the AC inside the garage via cranes/mechanics. Also they never tried seamless open world yet. garage is a damn hub to teleport to other zone levels. I want to see the building-tall AC get put into a capsule and air dropped like in AC2 cinematic or Adeptus Astartes orbital deployments in wh40k.

Dead to me. I don't like the cell shading, the absurd big boss, cartoony bomb-smoke, weird shrinking white cubes on enemies. AC was about being the elite of elites, piloting one of the only mechs in the world. It had a dark story with pressing missions where characters died. Buildings collapsing is a meme they had in AC4fa, whoop dee doo. Those desert buildings look literally the same, just slightly taller.

Those flying mechanics however are very nice.

I heard your V conquest experience really just depends on the server you were on. NA 360 was pretty vibrant. You still had those fag teams, but there was still quite a bit of competition between teams to get the top spots for each zone, right up until the servers were officially closed. I heard ps3 for EU was an absolute shitshow in comparison. The conquest in VD butchered the conquest mode, with teams now fighting for one of 3 factions, which reset like, weekly. It lacked any permanence or personal glory, so nobody bothered with the only thing that arguably kept the game alive on NA360 servers, even after the servers were merged to just be Intl and JP.

And VD had a comparable single-player to V. Nothing really new honestly.
