My vote goes to super mutants in the Fallout series, they're just bullet sponges. No specific weakness you have to exploit, no cool use of their size in battle, just big radiation orcs that talk like retards.

Any mutant ever in any Metro ever. Their AI and attacks are absolutely retarded and normally shouldn't possess any challenge whatsoever, but the developers are hacks and they make these mutated rats bullet sponges and on max difficulty you're wasting all your ammo on retarded and forced defense sections against hordes of mutants while waiting for some retarded boat to arrive.

They are not fun, not interesting-looking, not smart and exist solely to make you waste ammo. There isn't even a tactic to defeat them without wasting your limited ammo. They take two point blank shotgun blasts to the face, and when there are 40 of them coming in a single section all your ammo is gone.

Don't even try to use any other weapon on them, they eat anything that isn't a 13mm anti tank round or shotgun for breakfast. Half a magazine of 5x45mm just to kill one retarded over sized sewer rat. Fuck bullet sponge enemies and fuck the hacks that design them.

The good thing is that you can at least cheese every such section in the game by parkouring over glitched edges so they can't reach you. In other games you search legitimate tactics and tips on defeating enemies, but when it comes to nu-Stalker you need to search how to cheese entire game sections because the game design is atrocious.

Another example of an enemy designed to test the player. You can't just circle strafe and hit it's back like a pussy, you have to be smart about it. Same as the Sanctum Knights, gotta seek out the armour and destroy it before you can tackle them. I actually think they're great design, and wish the game had gone further with enemies like that. There's multiple ways you can effectively tackle them, but the one way that doesn't work is hiding behind a shield, which happens to be the most prolific strategy among low-skill players, which is why I think there's so many complaints about them in particular. Same with the rafters section in the cathedral where turtles just get bounced off the ledges.

Also works great, and is my preferred strategy. For the one big group at the end, just hit them with a wide-cleaving weapon and you'll staggerfuck them down without issue. Their HP drain can't kill you, so kill all of them in one go, wait a minute for your HP, and use 2x Estus. Nice and easy.

The difference between the base 3 super mutant variants in 3 and NV is 15 DT. They have identical HP and no DR. If you have Broken Steel installed, you will frequently run into super mutant overlords in high level areas which have 350% more HP than the tankiest mutants in NV. Also weapons do more damage in NV outside of retarded shit like metal blaster sneak attacks.

Both of them are crazy spongy compared to mutants in 1 though.

I easily shredded deathclaws constantly using the P90 automatic firing and 150% gun skills in Fallout 2. My advanced power armor absorbed a shitload of damage too. In NV, I could barely withstand 3-4 deathclaw strikes at level 50 wearing the enclave armor.

Blue Frog Cultists in Neo Scavanger. If you're in melee range they give you blue rot, which has a 60% chance of killing your character after the fight. Finding a cure usually takes longer than the sickness takes to kill you.

The biggest fuck you is the 30% chance of survival because you end up wasting more time on a run that's more than likely doomed.

By the time you're going after deathclaws, which is a four out of the way areas in vanilla and two spots in Lonesome Road, it's trivial to get weapons that absolutely maul them for just about any playstyle. The only mandatory deathclaw encounter on the LR overpass even gives you gigantic sightlines and fucking nukes in case you're going in at level 5. Hell, if you grab stonewall, super slam, and the right weapons, you have decent odds of killing Rawr in a melee fight. That's not even counting the ease of just setting up landmines or using explosives to mulch them without even getting in range. Satchel charges are the real MVP enemy of NV, and conveniently don't care about DT.

Elves - endgame enemies of Styx Master of Shadows, a stealth game. They detect your presence in an area around them, through all possible covers. They instakill you if they reach you. They don't fall for traps either, only possible way of dealing with them is through air assassination, but the game doesn't just set their patrol for such opportunities most of the time. I also think you have to drop from high enough so they don't detect you beforehand, otherwise the air kill won't work.

There is one particular corridor towards the end where you have extremely little wiggle room to kill the fucker.

This requires a bit of explanation.

In Cultist Simulator, you're, well, a cultist. Your activities, necessarily, attract Hunters, and one of the game overs is getting caught by one. There's many ways to deal with them, but they all mean attracting more Hunters - killing them, capturing them, etc. But if you talk them away, by scaring them or rendering them insane with the eldritch lore you have obtained, you don't attract further hunters, because the Hunter just gives up, they don't die. Most Hunters have immunities to one or two methods of removal. Some are immune to summons, some are immune to physical attacks.

And some are immune to being scared off - these being Grim hunters, or being rendered insane, these being Idealists.

You can get Grim Idealist hunters. They cannot be talked down, and must be killed or captured, ensuring you'll be stuck with another Hunter later. And since evidence doesn't die between hunters, a long string of Grim Idealists can end your game eventually.

Not necessarily, because it takes a while.

So it goes like this:

Certain actions generate notoriety. This stays with you for a while, and eventually goes away. An event, which triggers at random, grabs Notoriety and spawns a Hunter. Hunters, now and again, trigger that event again. If they find Notoriety on the board, they make tentative evidence. If they trigger that event again, and find both tentative evidence and notoriety, they make damning evidence. If this happens yet again, they will pick someone at random in your cult - which can number in more than twenty - and take them to court, removing them. If you get picked, it's all over.

There are ways to deal with Evidence, but they're all risky. The only real way to deal with Grim Idealists is to physically remove them with poison, summons, or minions, and then hope to fuck the notoriety from that act doesn't get you another one.

I wish the game didn't look like this, but it's still fun.

A single stone can and will literally destroy entire limbs.

A flurry of pebbles from 10 meters away with ranged trait will 1 or 2 hit ko everything without bulletproof armor, including dogmen. 3 pebbles literally do more damage than .308. Only reason to every use firearms is if they have armor.

After all these years I finally figured out how the fuck you're supposed to deal with these things. If you wedge yourself in between their cheek bones and front leg, they can't hit you with anything major and just spin like helicopter blades. Before you learn their true nature, it's not unreasonable you may decide to kill them first which will obliterate you, which to be fair is a one-time mistake and a good player would have plenty of health items. But when killing them last you still take a ton of damage even with the rolling health system and trying to get through the menus as fast as possible, and that's a huge drain on your items having to reheal constantly. And then fuck you if you more than one appears and have to do your best to kill them both at the same time, which leaves you open to their attacks until you can kill them both, and then you have to deal with the fire of one before you kill the other. And then, on top of all that shit, if you die after defeating one it can potentially glitch up your game, forcing you to reload a previous save.

That said, I wouldn't remove them because it was a pretty unique mechanic and the design is funny.

The problem with Deathclaws and a lot of the more dangerous melee weapons in NV is that they completely ignore your DR and DT. Wearing the best armor and being drugged up on Slasher and Med-ex is worse than being naked. The best way to handle them without the unofficial patch is to max out survival and stack so many different high yield foods that you instantly heal any damage taken. That or use the most OP build in NV: Explosives with Eye for an Eye perk while being completely crippled. See a red dot on the map? Nuke it. Something hostile within a 100 meters of you? Bats in any game tend to be a real pain in the ass because they attack in groups and are small targets that move really fast. Even if they don't do much damage but just stagger your character they're a fucking nightmare.

I eventually figured it out, but try beating them when you never really read the game, game wiki and just spam attack.

I didn't know the mechanic of "you have to wait to avoid a special attack that is charged up". I thought the only way to avoid that is to just stun the enemy.

Anyway, the blind spell is fucking overpowered as fuck. It lasts for like 10 turns.

And Sandtrap you can avoid with high enough speed, but it's no guarantee. You better have a bow or a high tease skill then, which you have to go out of your way to raise.

Basilik is als annoying, because he just lowers your speed by a flat 25.
