At least they fixed Palutena and brought back Snake and Ice Climbers and we got Ridley. Sukapon as an assist is great too. I like it because its a pretty looking atypical fighting-game where you have a bunch of more space to move around therefore much more freedom to perform various actions and maneuvers. Player freedom is something I greatly value in videogames and smash has a shitload more of it than any other fighting or party game out there in my opinion. The bunch of characters and their varied and unique movesets along with the dozens of differently shaped/movie stages in the game are also very fun to play around with, especially with friends.
No other fighting game out there even comes close to smash in my opinion, they are all as bland as shit, lack content and not worth learning how to play, smash eliminates all of those problems and made a game that can last hundreds of hours for the most devoted of autists.

Well they offered a lot more variety it feels in the N64 game. There were plenty of alternative modes that made sense for the movements of each character and the random stage select in the quest mode was pretty addictive for a while.

This really is Smash Bros Ultimate. Think about it: It has EVERY fighter who was ever in a Smash Bros. Not only that, but it's bringing back Melee mechanics like directional air dodge, which in turn brings wavedashing back. (Just not as broken as it was in Melee.) It also keeps mechanics from 4 like ledge guarding (Sadly Rage as well,) while also introducing new stuff like perfect shields and dodge punishes.
This is the Smash that's the best of all worlds: Melee, Brawl, and 4, while also adding new stuff. This is the Smash that finally bridges the gap between Melee fans and 4 fans. It's every fan mod that has been made into an official game. And the funny thing is, there's still a shitload of info we don't know yet.
I swear to fuck, if this game has an Adventure Mode like Subspace, then that's it. We'll finally have the perfect Smash Bros. Also, jesus fuck this music

Yes. No more lengthy transformation Final Smashes. All Final Smashes are now quick to the punch.
For example, in Brawl Snake had a lengthy Final Smash where he got on a helicopter's rope ladder and you shot grenades at the other fighters. Now, he throws a smoke grenade, which gives you control over Metal Gear REX to launch a missile barrage onto a targeted area.
Those who had transformations keep the transformations, but it's no longer lengthy. Instead they just select a targeted area and then do a powerful move on that area. Bowser now turns into Giant Bowser from Yoshi's Island, select a target, and then punch that spot.

I think Adventure mode can be expanded without SSE cutscenes. Even if there were cutscenes they can be rendered in engine to save time instead. Though I like the idea of having procedurally generated levels and random loot more. I like Brawl's big bosses. But I dunno if they have time to bring bosses back.

If they reveal characters like Wario and Ganondorf have alternate movesets to better match their games, then it'd be Ultimate. I'm still a salty lad who wants Wario to have a Wario Land / Wario World moveset and kick ass and take names. WarioWare has always been a mistake Huge missed opportunity if Young Link doesn't have a Majora's Mask inspired design variant or even moveset.
That main theme also feels like an Ultimate crossover. It has the grand sense of Brawl, the refined nature of Melee, and the playfulness of 64 and 4. It feels like it incorporates all of the main themes into one.

It's not back. When you hit the ground from an directional dodge you incur high landing lag. At most there's wavelanding.

No hard confirmation since this is only coming from those at the invitational, but if true, embarassing it took this long for this to be a fetaure. This should have been a thing since Brawl.
With this and having FD/Battlefield variants for each stages, a good portion of these stages may actually be fun to play on now.
