pretty much all the songs are complex enough for an orchestra. Kingdom hearts is fucking goofy, but the composer is classically trained, a lot of the songs are waltzes with emphasis on melody and follow the rules of repetition and variation present in most classical music, and every world has it's own orchestrated battle theme, all of it is literally done in orchestral style.

Dream Drop is super important sadly, since it sets up what the final conflict is. Short version is: time travel shit happened. All the members of Organization XIII who were kinda sympathetic, like Axel, became human again. The ones who were evil assholes stayed on the bad team and are now all becoming Xeonorts (means you get silver hair and yellow eyes). Goblin Leonard Nemoy is still trying to make the big XBlade and he's gonna do that by having seven lights and thirteen darknesses fight. So this basically means it's a huge villain teamup (every version of Xeonort, Vanitas, and all the asshole Organization clowns) against a hero teamup from all the games (basically any heroic person who uses a keyblade, including Kairi and Axel, who's real name is Lea, who got added at the end of Dream Drop).

To be fair they've never actually done the real Hercules plot until now. Plus they gotta have the payoff of Phil calling Sora a true hero that they've been leading up to for two games.

One of the main points originally mentioned that differs Heartless and Nobodies is that the Heartless will just follow anyone as you said, but even the lesser Nobodies had enough intelligence to follow complex instructions and hierarchy. Xion's role in the story an enigma. Most likely Xion is all of Sora's latent power forgotten between KH I and II then between 3D and III. Xion is the thing you've forgotten but can't quite remember. There's a couple theories floating around. One theory I mentioned is Xion is Sora's real nobody while Roxas was Ven's and Naminé was Kairi's. Another theory is that Xion is an artificial soul simply waiting for a new heart of her own to be ready to be born as a somebody and that new heart has to come from the birds and the bees. Meaning if Kingdom Hearts ends Xehanort's story and wants a new protagonist that isn't Sora then Nomura could use Xion's soul to be a descendent of Sora as a blank slate with a new personality in a new generation at some point.
