Because you're probably playing a game with a ladder system, and ladder systems extract all traces of fun out of the game with the utmost precision. People care more about their ranking than having a good time each game, so naturally they seek excuses for their failures.

You should be muting everyone in most esports games, but anyway. Meta matters only when you're at extremely high levels- it doesn't matter at low-high skill levels. Your macro and gamesense will help you win at those levels, not meta. Meta changes and you may win a few games but that'll even out over time and become insignificant in terms of impact.
