I have absolutely no experience with the series outside of the rare import from a friend's house i'll give an actually unbiased impression.
From what I can see the reason all this shit is streamlined is to attract new players from the west, after which they'll likely move into more complex things should the game see success. There's a move to reducing what I assume was a fair grind for parts, which frankly isn't attractive and would be a turn-off to new players and me, now you only get new parts and the levels are based off of the inner frames of the models, so combat will less be about the levels of parts and more about the tactical use of each part, prioritizing melee or ranged or support, etc.
On top of that they've removed stat bonus skills for parts in favor of functional skills, which means skill is more a factor when playing, while still leaving room for setups.
There's this tendancy I hate with games like this where it's not really feasible to unlock everything and it's used to give fake length to a game, loads of jap games and west games alike do this and it pisses me off.
I'm likely going to get the game if more footage comes out, I don't see the issue. I'd like to know how the other games were good, if the gameplay's slower and not as good, I'd like some videos of crazy shit you can do in Breakers 3 or whatever the good ones were.
As for the story I don't give a fuck, it's gonna be garbage and that's pretty clear, so the game's the only draw I need.
