It's hilarious how new you are, happily parading that newness about with your desperate "Look how negative I am, I must be a fellow member of this imageboard!".
"Losing is fun" is the primary tagline of Dwarf Fortress because the game is very, very, VERY easy to 'win'. It's relatively simple to totally isolate your fort in the right embark, living entirely off of farms that always work and never making enough wealth that you attract seiges powerful enough to destroy the fort, nor digging deep enough to unearth Forgotten Beasts.
Since the game is so easy to render into a fucking antfarm, the real fun is what happens when you ostensably 'fail'. The combat logs, the tantrum spirals, the madness and the demons, forgotten beasts and titans, etcetera. Each fort is so disposable, so easy to advance, that you're basically building a pressure bomb over time so you can watch it go off.
Because of this, you have the tagline. You saying it sounds like a soyboy sentiment is hilariously newfag in nature, because anyone who has been around for more than a couple years knows why it's there. Hell, even cuckchanners know it. EVEN FUCKING REDDITORS KNOW IT. Anyone who has stepped out of fucking facebook does, and thus, you show that despite having some of the lingo, you've none of the history. This is like someone walking into /a/ and being confused why every considers handholding to be some sort of sordid sexual act. This is like walking into /tg/ and not knowing the Commander Keen rule. This is like going into /v/ and not knowing what the central design conceit of Dwarf Fortress is.
