You know I just don't understand why companies didn't just make a quarter last hours. Imagine how successful the arcade industry could have been if each machine had a significantly lower amount of turnover. If fifty people could pay and play a machine over a 10 hour period, just imagine how much you'd get if five people payed and played that same machine over that same 10 hour period.
And the advertising was always so misleading. I can't tell you how many arcade fliers I've seen boasting about how easy the game(s) were or that you could play for 40 minutes or more only to get to the arcade and get a game over in 3 minutes FLAT.
Don't even get me started on the technology. It's like all the industry was capable of doing was holding back the rest of the world with outdated hardware normalizing past tech as if it was new. Zero innovation.
