How do other Anons deal with games that exist in multiple versions or are compiled in several different formats?

Personally, in terms of remakes, I go for the original because I want to see where things began. However, when it comes to games included in compilations, I'm unsure if it's better to go with a "collection" because of the bonus material, or to just get the original because…it's the original. Also, what about having the game several times?

I consider full remakes to be different enough to justify owning each, and remasters in some cases, the preferable version to the original. I own Wind Waker and its HD remake for the Wii U, but only play the Wii U version, because it's almost completely the same, but it's more clear and the controller is easier to handle. Admit it, the first-party Gamecube triggers fucking suck in games where you have to use them constantly.

There are a lot of remakes and remasters that have have no reason to exist, like Dark Souls Re-Bastard, though.

I like Chrono Trigger on the DS. Same thing for Fire Emblem. Actually, a lot of SNES games that got remade for portable I prefer because of the simple ability to save, and quit.

Otherwise, it's a toss up, usually look up online what has the best controls, translation if it was an issue, graphics, sound. Or which version has the best mods, the most mods, the most active, stable community for mods.
