Who the fuck thought this was a good idea? Loot boxes I can understand from a business prespective, but of all the other shitty mobile game practices to adopt into AAA games, why this one? Why the real time mission ones? Who wins from doing this? At least the issue is more or less confined to Ass Creed but I see it in other vidya from time to time.

Dragay Age CISquisition is basically a single-player MMO.

Artificially extend game length or to make you pay up to skip it. Or both, depends on whether it has microtransactions or not.

There is no option to pay to skip it, and it does not advance the main quest. It's just there to waste your fucking time.

A. Casuals, in a very literal sense. Real life time limits cater to folks who play once or twice a day in increments of maybe an hour or two around a regular work/social life schedule. It gives them a sense of added fun knowing that the game is still making some level of progress even while they're at work/the bar/etc.

B. Designed addiction. Having offline timers gives players a constant incentive to get on and check/update said timers. The more you have, the more often you have to check, the more you keep playing.

You've given the best most probably answer here with A. Considering the audience they were cultivating with who they EA and Dice flew out to their studios and events to see early builds of the game, we can assume it's because of that particular audience you mentioned here.

Also they barely referenced Dragon Age origins even though that was by far the superior game, but it was all reference to 2 and soft reboots of established lore of races within the game. Also everyones a nigger, everyones a chick, everyones a power fantasy Mary Sue who can't die.

I played on the hardest difficulty and purposefully fought one of the "BIG EPIC DRAGONS" under leveled and I literally couldn't die, every time my health was low or I was knocked out, a party member revived me or healed me and they wouldn't get knocked out as much as I tried. How boring is a game where you can't die?
