You've given the best most probably answer here with A. Considering the audience they were cultivating with who they EA and Dice flew out to their studios and events to see early builds of the game, we can assume it's because of that particular audience you mentioned here.
Also they barely referenced Dragon Age origins even though that was by far the superior game, but it was all reference to 2 and soft reboots of established lore of races within the game. Also everyones a nigger, everyones a chick, everyones a power fantasy Mary Sue who can't die.
I played on the hardest difficulty and purposefully fought one of the "BIG EPIC DRAGONS" under leveled and I literally couldn't die, every time my health was low or I was knocked out, a party member revived me or healed me and they wouldn't get knocked out as much as I tried. How boring is a game where you can't die?
