>>Random shithole blacksmith can make a better armor from some junk
>>Loot a superior sword from a crate in some peasant's backyard
If you want sword made for combat where would you go, to antique shop or to random asshole blacksmith who makes swords for living?
In witcher it explicitly pointed out that old weapons are fucking inferior to modern technology. Technology in witcher world are fucking improving, not declining.
And Geralt is The legendary witcher.

Combat in all 3 games is bad. In 1st game the only thing you needed to do was to pick correct stance (until you leveled up and was able to use heavy attack on light opponents making light attack obsolete) stance and click in exact same pattern for every combat. Click click click *pause* click. And with bullet time elixir you could murder fucking anything without any fucking problem whatsoever. In second you could just use fucklong rolls to position yourself in best position to attack and roll away if something was wrong as if Geralt is blue hedgehog in disguise.
And in 3rd you use good old "shield attack roll roll" combo to defeat almost every opponent. There were some minor variations, but its mostly irrelevant. Although I enjoyed some encounters in dlc. Probably similar variations existed in previous parts, but I cant fucking recall doing anything but clicking in pattern in 1st part, rolling and attacking around same opponent in second and basically same shit in 3rd.
Witcher combat was about looking good while killing monsters, not about making it hard to kill them.
