I still remember being a teen and highly antecipating it, such a shame.
Check out Out of Hell for UT2K4, that shit has 10/10 atmosphere and the same guy who made it is working on a standalone game with UT4.

Reminds me of my wait for city of the dead to come out or z-day. Z-day was before games of the same type were all the rage and it died over and over again. City of the dead was like a not-shit version of Land of the dead fiddler's green, that also never came out.

If you've played every Resident Evil it's worth giving The Evil Within a shot. I didn't care for most of it, but the zombie village at the beginning was one of the best parts.
Zombi (ZombiU) is surprisingly decent as well, and there are a few good zombie-centric HL2 mods like Nightmare House 2 and Underhell.

I haven't played it yet, but almost all reviews I saw were very positive. Mind you, it was made in 1986, so don't expect lots of fancy graphics. Anyway it's supposed to follow the plot of the movie Dawn of the Dead. Can't get much more zombie-like than that.
The same guys made a werewolf game too around the same time. Don't know if that one was translated to english though.

Yes it is, but as other anon said it has shit optimization and combat. The next big update is going to completely redo the gunplay from the ground up, so it will be an improvement. Melee however is just getting a slight upgrade with them adding power attacks.
They've been in EA for awhile, and last I heard this last HUGE update is going to finally shift them to beta phase, where they will focus on things like rebalancing, optimization, and improving the existing features.

Dead Frontier Night 1-3 are short and excellent games. They're probably some of the best flash games I've ever played. The gunplay, animations, and atmosphere still hold up really well. The framerate is janky though, as expected from a flash game, but in regard of atmosphere it trumps most if not all AAA zombie games, unironically. I'd love to see it getting remade in unity HTML5 or something.

No story, pretty much the same boring mediocre game loop. Most of the quests are extremely generic and long and boring. They tried to make it more sandboxy but just made it blander.
They added co-op which feels tacked on, since it's very limited. The coop players are basically only helpers for whoever's game they're playing and are extremely limited in what they can do. For instance they have to be within 300 or meters of the main player and they can't interact with hardly any of the base facilities.
They spent like freaking 5 years on it and it feels like a slightly modded version of the original.

Enemies in the old HotD games don't disappear into thin air , and the voice acting wasn't that horrible. This one is just beyond terrible, the male voice sounds like a soy shriek and the female actress isn't even trying.

ZombiU on WiiU is a very enjoyable one if you like more slow and methodical game.
Just remember this:

>if you want to save ammo on a single zombie, use the shove and get around behind it
>two shoves from behind will ragdoll it
>stomp on head to win
>gunshots will remove armored helmets with 1 to 3 hits
>stock up on ammo and items by revisiting the grocery store between ventures out
>holy shit find the crossbow
>to score an instant headshot, right after you shove a zombie, when you pull out your gun/crossbow, you'll target their head
>remember to use the right stick to look around rooms instead of waggling the pad like a tard
The Wii U interactivity adds a very enjoyable layer to the game that all the other zombi ports failed to deliver.

Anon go back and play HotD 1 and 2, they're bad its one of the trademarks of the HotD games having bad VA (Just like how the first RE game was). You could say the VA in 3 and 4 was fairly better and Scarlet Dawn is a stepback. But the bad VA's has always been a thing in HotD.
I really hope they would do a nip audio, I would play with that option instead tho.
