I'm looking for more simulation/strategy games with semi-autonomous characters that develop their skills and hopefully even interact with each other. I'm tired of micromanaging every single thing.

Can /v/ help me?

I've wanted something like this for the biggest time.

Imagine an RTS where each soldier is smart enough to run for cover, enter tanks and grab ammo.

All the player had to do was specify where his army should attack (and from where it should start the attack) and where reinforcements were needed.

>>14841359

Zed sometimes feels a little like that. Unfortunately you do have to control all your guys, but sometimes they're smart enough to start shooting or climb into a vehicle when you just order them near it.

No, OP, I can't. Hell, electroshock therapy couldn't help someone as mentally ill as one capable of grouping classics like Majesty and DK with halfbaked, early access mod platforms like Rimworld. They don't even play remotely the same aside for muh mark the tile for digging.

Eat shit, Rimworld is great vannilla.

And OP meant games were pawns are smart and do their own thing with general guidance.

If you weren't posting just be a contrarian 15 year old, you'd have sugested Dwarven Fortress since that's what you when you want to shit up Rimworld threads.

Also, OP, I sugest Multiwinia. It's one of the best Strategy games I've played. You do have to kinda micro large groups of pawns around, but they're usually smart enough to get into vehicles, use some map points, dodge grenades (and fire them) and it's a great game all around.

Dear illiterate mongoloid; I wouldn't eat you if you were scientifically proven to prolong life and secure good fortune. Some of you notvgcucklings started shilling this garbage like it's the second coming, cancer template generals and all, right around the time it popped up on steam because why wouldn't you? Must be good because it's going strong on steam right? But the game is shit. Shallow, ugly, and tedious with all the unnecessary micro required. Main reason you'd get the mods in the first place - so you can reduce all the unnecessary micro required. And unfortunately so, because believe it or fucking not I'd be the first motherfucker willing to waste some time and brain cells on a base/community management game in this vein.

As for DF I don't think I've touched that game since '09 or '10 but I sure as hell don't see any connection to said game other than forced memes. Tynan badly aped off Prison Architect, latched on GG for as long as he could mooch of it and more. This DF talk is just the latest marketing stunt because he has no fucking substance of his own.

Ah, that explains it. At the time (1996) I had a PS, the only computer game we had was Supaplex whenever father wasn't using Windows 3.11.

Thanks for the name, I'll give those a go tonight.

That spell that let you instantly collect money always seemed OP as shit. Then you set down a paper and a pen, do the math and realize how badly it's fucking you.

>>14841733

>right around the time it popped up on steam

That's what, 5-6 years ago?

Eat shit. Rimworld always had a small following of fans that enjoy DF but don't want to deal with DF's UI.

I can play both games and enjoy them greatly. If you feel the need to shit on one to validate your opinion on the other, you got some growing up to do.

Hint: using "big words" when they're not required doesn't make you sound smart. It makes you sound pretentions.

Ahah. not really. Don't get me wrong, it's a fun game, but OP want a game where the pawns are Smart. In Evil Genious, they're dumb as shit, especially when it comes to traps.

Then again, that actually makes sense in-game.

Oh right: Oxygen not included. It's Early Acess shit, so I'd advise pirating. Expect shit to go south real quick because the pawns are dumber than Evil Genious pawns, but that's also part of the game, I think.

The world doesn't revolve around shit outside of your village Parjeet and the word you're looking for is Pretentious. RW steam release (A14) was on July 15, 2016; these shit threads started around end of summer of said year. So, August maybe. Also what I'm shitting on are hipsters like you. Self proclaimed fans with shit for brains that can't into schoolgrader math or know that A1, closed, barebones, proof of concept A1 at that, came out on January 27th, 2014.

Additionally I've a personal bone to pick with the dev. An opportunistic sack of shit thru and thru, that didn't come up with a single original element of said game, didn't finish said game, didn't credit a single of the numerous contributors that straight up taught him how to fix his intern tier spaghetti code but had the gall to publish a book on muh successful game design. It's also worth noting how this is a kikestarter game with a delivery date of 2014, how it still lacks more than half of the features promised or how the only reason he didn't find a publisher and break yet another promise was because "paradox tried to stiff him".

It's pretty alright, I didn't like the latest MOBAish game mode they added but I enjoyed the single player campaigns.

If OP hasn't tried it yet he should try DKFX, the fan expansion with a ton of community made campaigns for Dungeon Keeper. The people behind this expansion are also working on their own sequel to DK but who knows whether that will turn out good or shit.

Graviteam Tactics does that. In my last battle, I had a 7.5cm Pak 40 deployed, but most of its crew had been injured or killed in the last engagement except 2 men. The gun itself wasn't damaged and there was plenty of ammo left. At the start of the battle they left the gun thinking it was better to leave it and ran back to one of my other gun batteries. Then 20 minutes later they decided to return to the gun and managed to immobilize this T-34 while it was trying to retreat. It kept punting it in the front while a Marder came from the side and finished it off.

Other times tanks might become immobilised and depending on the situation, the crew might just sit inside of it, attempt repairs or outright abandon it if they're morale is low enough, but they can still return to it as well.

This applies to infantry as well. Another example I can give of my previous battle is an assault on a hilltop position, where some Soviet stragglers from a static MG squad got left behind and were taking cover in a group of shell craters. I ordered an attack order on the hill, and about a kilometre away along a winding road was another immobilised T-34. The squad I ordered, instead of throwing smoke in front of the position of the Soviet infantry, threw it out onto the road so the tank couldn't get a clear shot at them, and the stragglers were quickly killed since they were in a panic.

Every game gets boring. Every activity gets boring. Eating as much candy as you can gets boring by the time you're 15. Having sex with random hookups gets boring by age 25. By the time you're 90 you'll be bored of almost literally everything in the world. This is the human condition, anon; you cannot escape it. If a game never bores you, and you can play it for forever and ever, you legitimately have mental problems.
