Nigger, Deus Ex might have its share of redpills, but it's not trying to be edgy, and rarely does it come across as such. I'm not denying that DX has no small amount of camp since Pacotti was one of the only people on staff who took the plot seriously, it was more the first part of the post, I have no idea how anyone could argue that Bloodlines takes itself seriously. The city hubs play out like a teenager's idea of what a "bad" city looks like, between the smoke shops, tattoo parlors and prostitutes. For the most part I'm not bothered by attempts at being edgy, I can handle the immediate cringe in case they're setting something up. 'Edgy' but self-aware and/or playing something to the hilt can be fun, or at least funny.
More often than not though, the edgy moment is followed by a pregnant pause so we as player/audience appreciate how super special awesome it was; that's when I tune out entirely.

I live in leafland and I know one of the guys at red barrel who worked on outlast 2, basically he confirmed to me that the cut content from the end of the game was actual onscreen rape of a child and they cut it because they were worried it would get removed from steam, so yeah that would have been pretty edgy.

I love it. It probably tames the hunger and tendencies of my inner edgelord. No matter how much of stuff I see that at the same time tries too hard to be cool, to be offensive, to be rebellious or to remind the people of the worst sides of the world — it always seems fresh and interesting to me.
Though it's not the same when the game/any other piece of media with these elements is done poorly and it's completely bad, not in a way that it is so terrible that it is good, just bad.
That said, having edgy things everywhere is not very good, it as'll make true edgy stuff feel bland. It would be better if all of the edgyness was concentrated in games whose main purpose, aside from being interesting, is to be edgy.
