the dev team that made the game went on to make mercenary kings and a few smaller roguelites or something. i wonder what theyre working on next, theyre a small team with alot of potential. i like their art design. reminds me of a day glow cartoony metal slug.

Conveyor Belt Simulator: Strange Journey

The style and visuals of this game are very unique and interesting but anyone saying the gameplay is anything better than "okay" is blinded by nostalgia although I do think some of the boss fights are fun.

But the soundtrack is excellent. No denying that. Even the cheesey anime song they did for it.

Pretty much everything that Yoko Shimomura has touched.

I suppose Mario RPG was good, but Mario and Luigi had only one good game in the series and Kingdom Hearts was always shit.

that's the one I just posted.

I wasn't meaning to imply the entire OST is top-tier or something, it's just got some pretty bangin songs on it, like that one, or the Spider Dance, and even Megalovania (though it's over-played a shit ton). The lesser songs still serve their purpose well-enough in the game, even though the game isn't really great; certainly wasn't good enough for me to care enough about beating it.

Dunno how they manage to maintain solid tracks in such a current day shit tier franchise.

The dashing mechanic is genuinely great but inhibited by weird controls and most of the levels are pretty decent. There's maybe 10 or so levels that are garbage though. Overall if the dashing mechanic made more sense and they cut the shitty levels it would be an 8-9/10 easy.

Because they they wanted the GTA audience, especially since Iizuka took notice of Ratchet and Clank and especially Jak and Daxter going gritty because of it beforehand. He has said that in hindsight, they did get too carried away with the seriousness after 06 came out and got a feeling on how fans were let down. A recent con also had him saying that the Super Emeralds granting Hyper forms won't return partly because they don't want to lean too heavily on DBZ again.

All the shmup enthusiasts I speak with claim it's fucking great. Real shame they fucked over its PC "port" with Steam cancer, I wanted to finally try it out.

Most of the soundtrack is outstanding, but the game itself is nothing more than wasted potential.

Such a shame Metal Slug 5 was rushed out the door with only 5 stages and that awful slide mechanic, sometimes I replay it just to enjoy that awesome soundtrack.
