Im on NA so it is fine. The admins are all english speaking as far as I can tell and the game is fully translated (aside from some shops still having the korean dialogue when they speak. The text is all english.)

There is a cash shop although it is basically all cosmetic and all of the items can be bought from other players using gold. Even credits can be bought.

Land is fairly available, I was easily able to find 3 16x16 plots in a good area although I was fairly lucky. I have seen a lot of land unused though (things like 1-2 16x16 in solzreed or dewstone.)

Blighter is a discount Abolisher. Good for small group PvP but for anything 6v6 and up you'll want to swap your shadowplay for desfense.

I've never seen anyone play Shadowblade successfully, it looks like a gimped Hexblade (which can be decent but you're better off playing either a Defiler or Cabalist… or a Darkrunner if they weren't balanced (read nerfed horribly)).

Do you want to play DPS? Roll Darkrunner for melee (Hexblade if you want a challenge and have a high GS). Roll Enigmatist if you want a DPS mage (Spellsinger if you have a high GS or Daggerspell if you want to do a lot of 1v1 arena). Roll Primeval if you want to be an archer (Ebonsong if you've got a high GS or Stonearrow if you want a hybrid archer/melee).

Want to tank? Play Abolisher for your traditional plate armor sword and board type (though mid-range GS Abolishers will play mostly with leather armor, leather and plate become viable at high GS). Skullknight is a very unique tank class, playing a bit more like a CC-tank (basically a mage-tank, high skill ceiling, people will tell you to wear plate but they're retarded, always use cloth). Bastion is an archer tank which is actually viable, has a unique playstyle and some of the best survivability of any class (not much to else to say about them, never tried it but I've seen it work).

There are only two really viable support classes, Templar and Cleric. Cleric has songcraft for buffs so they're always in demand, but if you're low GS you're always going to die almost immediately in a fight. Templar are the bread and butter healer of any group fight. Soothsayer and Hierophant see occasional niche use but it'll never be your primary class.

There are other viable niche builds (like Defiler, Cabalist, Argent, Dreambreaker) but if you're playing the game seriously you'll be swapping between that and a more traditional build as needed.

Anyway, I took a quick look at their site and it appears the server has been up for quite some time, with the top ranked players approaching 8k GS. I'm sorry but I can't say I'd be all that interested in joining, as regardless of the changes they may have made from Trion's shitshow the game will always be a gear race. I can't see it being all that fun to join so late in a server's lifetime. Any chances they'll open a fresh server or have a wipe anytime soon?

Labour points are still there but not as cancer as retail. You re-gain them offline too so unless you want to go farm PVE/PVP enemies while they regen you can just log out and wait for a full pool.

Rates are 40/5 minutes so after a little bit you should have some labor usable. I have honestly not run out yet though as I am not making stuff fast enough to be running out all the time.

Enemy. The factions (west and east) are instant PVP against each other. This means that you will always be red for me and I for you. We also speak different languages in-game so I cannot send you a message.

You can always change skillsets, its just that you will have to re-level the new ones later. As far as I can tell if you switch then the old ones will stay at their level.

An example would be my abolisher at lvl 55 has Battlerage, Defense and Auramancy at 55 with all other skill sets at the lowest.

You choose your faction (like WoW) when you create your character. The factions are based on different continents. If you want to play with us then make a character on the west.

There is also a crime point system that is in place. This means when you steal, PK and be a general bad guy, you are treated like a criminal. After getting enough crime points you will then become a pirate which is its own faction that is hostile to the two main ones.

Everyone gets free patron, meaning 5000 labor points, which is enough for anything except trying to build a massive mansion in a day. you get 40 points per 5 minutes because the rates are heavily boosted.

The endgame is very far off and not blocked by dungeons. The end goal of Archeage is to build a guild that takes over land in the PVP continent and creates a player faction. This is extremely hard to do but has great rewards for people that do it.

All of the counterpoints I said are not even including things like naval combat, a complete open world, actually hard world bosses (They actually are almost impossible to solo unless you are the best player with a huge gear score) and a huge population. Try playing the game as part of a guild and interacting with other players, it gets a lot better once you do that.

Then again you will just ignore everything I said above because you are just here to shit on a game that has been fun for almost everyone that has tried it. If you dont, and I somehow convinced you to try again, message me in-game and I can show you how to actually have fun in the game.

Mobility is actually an important stat for archage and i've seen many of the best archerfags, usually stone arrows, kite bosses around in a circle while shitting DPS into them. and yes an archer should neglect all melee combat, but you can get a really nice melee weapon later on just for the stats.

Someone give me a rundown on worthwhile private servers? I know WoW has 2 or 3 at any given time, I know about Project1999 for classic Everquest.

Also as an aside question, what mmo (private server or otherwise) has the best group dungeons / raid gameplay? I don't need it to be hard, but the best part of an MMO in my opinion is playing as a class and feeling like you're a niche in the group, or play a role that's absolutely necessary. That doesn't mean it has to be healing or tanking, but things like embed related ruins an mmo, whereas I don't mind playing a gimped class spec as long as I can get hyped about filling a niche.

On top of that most of this thread is avoiding pay-to-win financial models, which is separate from being a poorfag. I used to pay for mmo's I played World of Warcraft but never played that Runescape shit, not because I needed more modern game mechanics but because game features being locked is gay.

WoW clone isn't an insult, it's a necessity for oldfags who still want to play WoW but don't find the lore, classes, dungeons, etc. exciting anymore.
