One could hope but Automata pretty much ended pretty solidly. It's rumored if anything but still, if you read up on development of Morrowind you can easily pick that out. The development of Morrowind was pretty much "shut the fuck up Todd" and Todd being autistic about his "vision", Todd is a business man and that's really it hell he was schooled as one. Morrowind was supposed to be in vain of something like Daggerfall but a lot better done on a new in-house engine, with a massive landscape that was mostly hand-made, a lot more skills than Daggerfall and a lot more quests and lore, but then Todd was given the wheel and the rest is history.

Looked it up and read the script. It appears there are two endings to the stageplay, because of course Yoko Taro made a good and bad end for a play. Anyways youre right in that one ending is just that, but the other is very similar to ending E from the game. So neither is really canon. Either way hes expressed that he doesnt want to make another game about 2b. I dont have a source, but I remember reading an article where he said that, if he brought back 2b, he'd just transfer her consciousness into a bug or something similar. He also said that Nier (the character) was that truck you see when you first enter the field on the way to the resistance camp in automata. Anyways, my bad on not knowing about the play, but I dont think it changes much. If he wanted the characters to be cannonically alive then it wouldn't fly in the face of anything because the story is already split. Plus theres no guarantee he wouldn't just retcon everything from the plays if he wanted.
