If you think you're going to become a good artist by reading a few books, you're in for a rude awakening. First of all, a lot of books about art are written by imbeciles who have no idea what they're talking about, and you, as someone who just started out, has no chance to tell which ones are legit and which ones aren't. Second of all, information is not enough. You need feedback, quality feedback, for which you need someone who knows about this shit, meaning you need a mentor. If you don't, there's a very high chance you'll misinterpret what the book says (it's really more common than you think, a lot of the shit there tends to be abstract and often meant more as a guideline, and it's easy to get the wrong impression).
