The problem with a biblical TW would be that it becomes fucking boring. Just like Shogun you'd just have brown people in rags run into each other. No cavalry, the best anyone can bring is a bunch of donkey chariots and maybe an axe.

You'd have the same problem as San Andreas where 90% of the map is just empty grassland. Except it would be worse because SA is just one state but you're suggesting 4 nations.
The UK would have to be extremely downscaled for it to work.

There are plenty of kingdoms to choose from, the problem arises with unit variety as the other anon pointed out. Still, it's an interesting time period if done right. Israel could have a "Senate" system like in RTW - listen to God and you'll get bonuses, disobey God and you'll get penalized. There could also be hero units like David or Solomon, other factions like the Phillistines could train giants.

I'd rather have MSGV where you play in not-South Africa and have to liberate your country from the nigger and Jew menace. The gimmick is that you can't fulton the niggers, you can only incapacitate or kill them, but you can fulton UN and US troops and de-pozz them. The main goal would be to attain nukes to guarantee your sovereignty. It would also feature a customizable Metal Gear you can build and deploy, mercenary contracts in the post-ending game, turn based battles ala XCOM when you send your troops out on missions, Rainbow Six style planning when you call-in troops to help you on your mission (or some other decent command system with queuing and triggers). Alas, it will never be made and I'll never get to sneak into a nigger mudhut village and knife all the chimps to death.

This is more of the problem they'd need to essentially make the entire UK the size of something like Cyprus
There's also issues with making worlds of that scale like there's a lot of repetition and not a lot of world seems unique. You can see this if you compare a lot of earlier sandbox games with later ones where the map is a lot more condensed and full of memorable locations compared to just bland woods and mountains where you just keep fighting the same enemies just doing slightly more damage.

Okay but like, why hasn't some autist tried making a sandbox with a poopload of pre-made tiles/assets for buildings, roads, etc and then it's just procedurally generated from there? I mean, the variety still won't be great, but you basically end up with Daggerfall.
Even better if said procedural generation is just done once to populate a map, and then is tweaked and refined after the fact - so it's not some minecraft-tier shitfest where nothing is cohesive.

They'd most likely make it more like Minecraft.
The issue is that there are severe limitations with randomly generated areas. Which is that they all eventually start to blend together. Like the forest you're in is just slightly different to the same forest you've seen a hundred times.
>Even better if said procedural generation is just done once to populate a map, and then is tweaked and refined after the fact - so it's not some minecraft-tier shitfest where nothing is cohesive.
The issue is with a world that big it takes an enormous amount of time to actually populate it with interesting content. To the point where even if you have hundreds of developers it will still take 10 years to make every single part of the map have the same amount of detail as something like just a part of Morrowind. Then there's the other problem which is that players most likely won't actually explore most of the map they'll just do missions to wanna beat the game. So you end up wasting a ton of time making content that 90% of players won't see and take away time that could be used to make the combat better or make the story longer.
When you have really big open world games with hundreds of developers another thing you'll notice is that individual areas and content tend to have less personality. Like if you compare areas in Fallout 3 that had tons of people working on them with areas that only 1-2 people worked on there's a stark contrast. Like compare Megaton or most of the main quest to an area like the Republic of Dave or the Dunwich manor which had 1-2 devs who made them. Which are significantly more memorable locations with lots of personality. It's a "too many cooks spoil the broth" issue.
If you compare Fallout New Vegas's map with Fallout 3 one of the first things you'll notice is the actual playing area is a lot smaller and more towards the middle but everything is more condensed and closer together. And things are more logically placed. Like towns are all along a single looped road that caravans go through and the player has a clear path that he takes for the first half or so of the main quest to find Benny. By comparison everything in Fallout 3 is more random and chaotic despite there being more physical playing area.
f44ea0 No.14780713
>>14780668
I dunno, man. I think if you have enough dynamic, separate variables, you can end up with some pretty nice variation. Rather than just "have a bunch of different types of trees", have more factors to account into the generation itself - different heat levels, humidity levels, height levels, height variation, bodies of water, etc
When a lot of people think of "randomly generated", they seem to think "just place a lot of the same stuff down, but in a different order" and that's how you end up with minecraft-tier bullshit (biomes are lazily made and dogshit).
You also can still add in your own custom shit after the procedural generation is done, too. Add in cabins to forests, maybe make the roads yourself, etc. I really don't get why people think procedural generation and handcrafted worlds are mutually exclusive. Especially when you get bland same-y grey-and-brown dogshit like Skyrim that's supposedly "handcrafted" anyway.
1652d4 No.14780750
>>14780713
Generally speaking I'm of the opinion you can make most games better if you shrank the world just a little and forced yourself to cut out most of the empty space and more pointless areas and focused on the things people actually cared about.
f44ea0 No.14780766
>>14780750
Oh, definitely. A smaller, more personable and handcrafted world will certainly have more consistent quality across the board vs a larger one, if made by the same developer.
That being said, I still don't get why developers of larger game worlds (where a larger game world makes some justifiable sense) don't just use some degree of procedural generation to fill in the work of hundreds of devs. Like, that's literally what computers are for.

Going full dream game here.
>Massive open world RPG
>Swords and magic, monsters and humans
>Can roleplay the shit out of it
>No railroaded "you are the chosen one" questline, instead you have to commit to the main quest for a good while before you're locked into it
>Once you are locked in, a timer starts (hate the whole "you must stop the great evil lest the world perish" and then you help some guy deal with a sketchy merchant)
>Minigames for crafting, tailoring, blacksmith, alchemy, cooking, cobbler etc.
>Can live a simple life as a blacksmith for example in a small village if you want
>War is a massive side quest chain, practically co-main quest
>Can join sides, stay out of it
>War can interact with your roleplaying, going back to the blacksmith route; you can help a side, help both to keep the village safe, help neither and hope to keep them safe
>This could lead to you giving one side an advantage or them thinking you did so they come for you, maybe you have to flee and start elsewhere, perhaps you're a former warrior and want an end to killing but have no choice but to defend your family and new home
>Combat is much like Mount and Blade, Kingdom Come, Chivalry, Dark Messiah and maybe some Nioh with the stances (it all just works)
>No killing a dragon by slashing at it with what equates to a toothpick, generally killing big enemies like that should be a quest in itself so you can have scripted combat sequences with many NPCs to help you
>Fully fleshed out stealth. proper light/dark meters, good sound like Thief, different sneaking speeds, awesome thieves guild quests, no janky shit like "you stole this item from another town and we all know this somehow"
>Magic has Dragon's Dogma's visuals and oomf but with something more like Arx Fatalis' mechanics, you have to get the spells right, you also have to pour over tomes, study, learn the lore to understand magic deeper and get better at it
>Tonne of guilds, factions and gangs to join; thieves guild, assassins, arena, city watch, king's guard, adventurer's guild, alchemists, crafting, magic schools, holy church to fight undead and dark arts, black magic etc.
>Camping, horse riding, cave diving and spelunking; explore forgotten tombs and unearth buried kingdoms to find treasures and information of the past

>Keep the garage stocked with every VS you've salvaged, stolen, or manufactured, and pilot them yourself or assign soldiers to them.
>Everything you lose in battle is lost forever, thankfully you can take on missions to raid NEVEC bases and settlements for more gear.
>Some settlements have factories which can produce weapons and/or VSs, making them important targets both to assault and defend.
>Hunt Akrid for a massive boost to your T-ENG stores, while winning the favor of local settlements and other Pirate gangs.
>Capture and farm Akrid for a meager, dangerous, but sustainable supply of T-ENG
>Some tamed Akrid can fight for you, others can be controlled like a VS, with sufficient technology.

>>Salvaging abandoned containers and VSs
>>Mining it directly from underground veins with the right equipment
>>Having it taxed from Settlements you control
>Liberate Settlements from NEVEC and run them how you see fit.
>Build settlements Fallout 4 style using raw materials
>Manage settlement needs by building facilities like hydroponics and T-ENG Generators
>If you fail to meet their needs for an extended period, they may defect back to NEVEC, along with any troops and tech you've invested into the settlement.
>Set up static defenses and assign troops to guard them
>Settlements under attack will radio for help, but with enough defenses and resources they can feasibly take care of themselves without you having to be there.
>Sometimes Cat-G Akrid will attack, requiring direct intervention by the player.

So what I want is just a multiplayer engineering, electronics, and programming sim. For OP's old testament idea, you could have a whole gameplay system revolving around miracles and religious shit, or outrightt have certain units be magical and increase variety that way.

Too many dream games to really discuss them properly.
I'm interested in making the first good Christian game, a title set against the early renaissance and a crusade against hell where things have gone wrong. mostly I want to reward players who play consistently to the values of their characters with a harder game that offers more options in regards to combat, and players who ignore these and play cheaply with an easier more hollow experience.
I want to make a first person action game, and this is one I can actually do for the most part with my current skill set, I have a bunch of ideas as to what I can add to the combat system but the main gimmick is that you have a power that lets you turn demons into weapons, including fusing weapons together to make more effective weapons.
Castlevania x The Lost Vikings set in the early 90s with 3 characters who have to explore a castle in NYC, I think 3 is the perfect number because if you need to split up you will always have 1 character who is alone.

/pol/'s prophecy: the game
the way /pol/ sees the world is very dramatic and exciting, I'd like to play in the world /pol/ sees;
I want a game set in the future as predicted by /pol/, and in a world created from a /pol/ack's perspective of the world we live in, seems like an exciting setting for a game, there could be a different faction/subfaction for every different political or religious community/ideology/philosophy, just to show where everyone will stand and what will happen to them.
I don't care what genre it is, it could be an FPS, RPG, RTS, TBS, or something else entirely (a puzzle game? stealth game? survival game?), the setting is what would appeal to me.
the other boards could get involved as well for the relevant subject matter for example:
If it is a game with combat from an on-the-ground perspective, /k/ or /sci/ should be involved with consultation on weapons and equipment as well as on how to conduct a civil war against superior (government-backed) forces, if it involves real locations, /his/ should be brought in (no one knows how to portray an area better then a historian), /tg/ or /cyoa/ could work with /v/ on character creation/progression (and how it interacts with the game mechanics) if it would have RPG elements, an artistic board like /co/ could come up with interesting character designs (depending on the artstyle), and /g/ could get involved for consultation on depictions of technology (for example, they once made a great thread on hacking as depicted in vidya, and how to balance how fun the game is with giving an accurate portrayal of IRL hacking).
If someone wants to break with my "realistic" setting, you could go with /x/ on adding in sci-fi, fantasy, or horror elements into the story.

I have multiple dream games, but here's a general overview of one I feel like sharing.
I would want a heavy combat oriented adventure game that allows you to control 4 characters at once with the D-Pad allowing you to select, swap, or take control of a specific character and shoulder buttons being used to issue commands or strategies. Standard buttons would control items, attacks, jump, and other miscellaneous functions for controlling 1 character or provide more commands, formations, etc when controlling all of them from a broad viewpoint.
You battle as a team and have to utilize your allies properly by using commands to gain the upper hand and fight with great effectiveness. Each character would have at least one unique ability, command, or attribute and different traits and stats to set them apart. There would be puzzle solving aspects that implement those abilities, either on their own or using a combination of abilities, with more general and specific commands to unlock along the way and more characters / party members to recruit. Pressing select or clicking in the thumbstick would allow you to swap parties of 4 on a whim, with each party allowing you to swap and customize its' characters.
The game itself would have an overall fantasy/medieval setting and have a somewhat Zelda-esque / Shadow of the Colossus-esque tone. But the world would be filled with people to talk to, interesting landmarks, and overall variety. If you want me to get into specifics about areas, items, features, or what else, I could share what more ideas I have. But that's the gist of the gameplay or actual game.

SWAT 4 but with faster movement but cyberpunk.
A Platinum-esque game where its unarmed only (I know God Hand exists) and you equip a bunch of fight styles and martial arts. It'd play more DMC, Bayo, MGR than GH. I mainly just want to run around doing some wrestling moves. Or perhaps Platinum fun combat but in a Soulslike, still unarmed only though.
Some online PvP game where its an open city, one player as a detective and another player as a killer. It would be hard to make it work right, but the killer would want to hide their tracks and play smart and the detective has to check cameras, witnesses, crime scene etc. to find the killer. It would probably need some real good physics and animations to make each murder slightly different, blood splatters working differently, animations causing different noise, leaving different tracks and traces. Could be cool if done right. You'd also need to have it be instanced otherwise matches would last hours. Better to have a specific lobby/server for each murderer that they can go back to whenever they want.

To survive you will have to not only learn how to read Kanji you will have to learn how to write kanji and speak Japanese as well.
But it's more than that. You will have to learn the culture and it's customs and blend in with society as well. You can initially start with being kind to those even if you do not understand them. And even though they don't understand you they will help you uderstand them. It's a nightmare budget of a game to make.

so are WW2 games, and WW1 games, and medieval games (the ones w/o supernatural elements), and many grand strat games (hearts of iron), and Far Cry uses some IRL assets as well (such as pissgate being canon in FC5), and so on.
at least my idea is set in a future anticipated conflict, but even then, all those nintendo games depicting open war with the reds did quite a bit of that as well.
and even if the conflict is going to be a sure thing, I want to depict it as /pol/ would see it going down, and even then I'd like to exaggerate it TO THE MAX! (+ULTRA!), make it much more exciting.
here's my original pitch for this concept: you play as a canadian leftist soyboy cuck cameraman who, along with his QT french-canuck reporter GF (who he by all right should not have), is being sent on his (and hers) first assignment by a major 'murican MSM news megacorp:
they are to be sent into france to document the rise of "far-right terrorism", actually co-ordinated right-wing protests throughout europe, SHTF shortly after they arrive, and they are both captured by an unstable coalition of far-left extremists, islamic terrorists, and government forces (the military, police, and intelligence forces, along with selected "rehabilitated" prison/asylum inmates of every EU country combined into one).
He gets to experience torture and humiliation at the hands of the "good guys" while awaiting his execution, and watches as his GF is tortured and raped before being killed in front of him, during his execution, however, he manages to escape, kill his captors through player control, and release all the prisoners, which makes him out to be a hero to the "bad guys", who's side he reluctantly joins the disorganized, divided, and ill-equipped right-wing guerilla rebel forces to liberate Europe from the EU, as it's his only ticket getting home, and his only means of taking revenge upon the EU for the death of his GF and his own physical and mental breakdown during the torture (and for the lies he believed about them his whole life), he also learns that back home, he and his GF were stated to have been killed by right-wing extremists, and have been made into martyrs against the right.
as you go through the game, you make choices that determine who you character becomes and who the movement he belongs to becomes as well, which can run the gamut from the most extreme /pol/ 14/88'er white imperialists, who venture out to kill lesser races and take their land, to the hans-hermann-hoppe ancapistan /liberty/ reams about, to the centrist, civnat "liberalism" of sargoy's skeptics, which is really just dialing things back to the way they were in the 80's, the way this would work is that certain missions would require a decision regarding a specific political or philosophical issue, it wouldn't be blatant, rather, it would emerge out of how the player goes about accomplishing the goal. this would shape the way the internal debates between sub-faction leaders within the resistance go on that particular issue, obviously the side that wins will be the one best reflected by the players actions, in this way, the movement changes direction.
as the player improves themselves, their appearance will change as well, stats for example: his model gets /fit/ as he gets fit, any perks/skills/etc he picks up might also show themselves on his model. The game's central theme is rebirth from death, an the uncertainty of what new form the reborn would take, other than it having to be completely different from what it was.
other ideas include open world exploration and non-linear story (side missions, challenges, collectibles, etc.), and contributions from various boards:
/mu/: ambient sounds in absence of an in-game music source, which would have a great soundtrack to fight to (according to the tastes of the rebels)
/g/ and /k/: tech/weapons/equipment/vehicles based upon the IRL versions likely to be used in such a conflict
/tg/: a well-made character-progression system.
/lit/ and /a/ could write out all the missions/story, and /liberty/ and /pol/ could each write how things would result from the player taking their decision on an alignment mission ("skeptics" are one of two bad ends, there is no going back, the other is deciding to side with the globalists after they make an offer to you to do it near the end of the main storyline, or dying by cooperating with your captors by doing nothing during your execution, which becomes an ending right at the beginning of the game).
/his/ designing the world in such a way as to compress western europe so as to make travel reasonable, but still keeping it western europe.

I've had ideas like this, but not just West vs East, but East vs West vs the Americas, though I guess then the West would rreally be the "center" and the Americas would be the West.
Historically, of course, it wouldn't quite work out, but the Americas, at least in the two places that had urban, complex civilization (Mesoamerica and the Andes) were a lot less behind then people think: They were basically Iron age tier civilizations in most regards vs obviously a late medieval europe: So the idea would be that humans arrived in the Amercas 2000 years earlier to where civilization in the Americas was at an equavent level of technology as europe and asia, and you have a 3 way war.
Though, I think it'd be more fun as an action game then a strategy game, or something with elements of both: The whole setutp reminds me of, of all things, Gauntlet, with the whole Red vs Blue vs Green vs yellow character setup. So I guess something like For Honor, but with a focus on single player stages, maybe with it being board game esque and then when your units meet each other it opens up into a playable mission oon an actual traversable map.

I want a stealth game set in a fantasy world with the aesthetics of Bloodborne but the tone of Medievil, in which some kind of curse/spell/whatever resurrects the dead and you play as the skeleton of a hero/respected official in the king's government who is now being hunted down by the government he once worked for due to being undead. It would have the camera and light/dark system of SC Chaos Theory, and the save system similar to MGS (where it saves every time you enter a different zone) to prevent save scumming.
As a skeleton, you'd be able to take off your limbs and throw them to create noise to distract enemies, but your options become increasingly limited as you do so. Take off an arm and you take longer to climb up to higher places; take off your other arm and you can't climb or use items at all; take off a leg and you move slightly more slowly and can't jump as high; take off both legs and you can only hobble along the ground and can't jump at all. You can call your limbs back to you, but if an enemy sees them crawling towards you they will become suspicious and try to follow the limb. Because of this system, items which can be thrown to create noise without costing you a limb are very rare.
In keeping with the horror theme/aesthetic, you can manipulate enemies' emotions, being able to scare them, anger them or make them go insane. Scaring an enemy might cause them to abandon their patrol route and hide or to drop some items in a panic. Angering an enemy will make them become more aggressive in their search for you, breaking or burning hiding spots, and cause them to check areas that they otherwise wouldn't, as well as making them harder to frighten. Making an enemy go insane would cause them to shriek and laugh, drawing other enemies' attention towards them, as well as to attack other enemies if they get too close. Different types of enemies would react differently to emotional stimuli; standard guards are easy to frighten, whereas demons are much harder to frighten and much easier to make angry.
Killing enemies wouldn't affect your rank, but certain supernatural enemies (such as necromancers) can revive enemies you've killed, after which they'll be harder to emotionally manipulate due to being dead. Because of this it's still disencouraged as it can just end up making things more difficult for yourself, especially in later, harder areas of the game in which enemies such as these are more prevalent.

Hack'n Slash or anything similar with random map generations placed in Norsca or Realms of Chaos in Warhammer.
Ok so Norsca and other affected by Chaos places in the world were told to defy logic and change randomly. One day you have mountain in front of your home tomorrow you have river that flows upwards that mountain.
It is perfect setting to not only create some interesting looking landscapes and character or enemies it is also perfect excuse excuse to actually add random map generation to a game.

Part of the problem with games like GTAV is that it's just a big open map with tall things for you to crash your helicopter into. At least of I could walk inside I could have more interesting shootouts with the coppers.
But yeah, a GTA clone with buildings you can go in, and more petty crimes, like the house robberies in san andreas or the store robberies in saints row 1 would be great.

I want a more ambitious and refined Eternal Darkness. It's a well regarded game but having played it numerous times it's easy to see the failings of Silicon Knights with regards to it's design.
The magic system is the first thing that needs to be improved. The idea is really good; a vocabulary based casting system using nouns, Verbs, and Adverbs. The actual game had a very rudimentary spell list compared to what was promised, mostly because spells only account for 3 words and larger spells just splash the 'power' rune in. Spellcasting is also clunky as despite having hotkeys you still need to navigate menus. A solution would be to make casting based on a pop-up radial menu that can be accessed in real time. Since the spells are based on sequential chanting you can still have players choose each component while maintaining the need to keep them stationary and vulnerable.
Also make MP regen since walking in circles was terrible.
The locations also need more development as you will be revisiting some places across time. ED starts off doing a good job making some places feel different and varied but towards the middle you really start to notice that you're just walking in circles and towards the end they just padded out these locations by making pain floors to slow you down. Ideally you would have a large location and maybe separate maps within it that some players only experience in one timeline. So if you have a port town like innsmouth was a location, the underwater coves would be one location for one character, and the town would be a separate location for another. If we're going to repeat the same spot, you have to introduce more wrinkles into their differences.
Sanity should never be shown to the player. It made the much touted sanity system was way too easy to game and lent itself to amusement rather than horror. Don't have a meter on screen and have the same stimulants cause greater/weaker sanity loss depending on characters. And sanity effects should be more subtle overall.
Combat is fine in ED, but enemy variety is so lacking that once you get past the various gimmicks of zombies, creatures are just pallet swaps with different secondary damage types they inflict. Even if you drop the rock-paper-scissors nature of Eternal Darkness, there should still be a wider range of enemies to combat as with such a precise targetting system just hacking limbs got old fast.
And lastly get a good spread of characters and traits. I imagine having more specific mechanics like a caveman being able to track prey with some kind of detective mode for markings. An archeologist that actually needs to decipher an ancient language. A tibetan monk that can meditate to endure harsh climates as he trecks up a mountain. A soldier that has his squad with him. Things to really make characters stand out more than health, magic, and sanity levels.
When I'd heard about Shadow of the Eternals, I was excited just long enough to see that Dennis Dyack was in charge. Th e ensuing trainwreck just made me wonder what if we got a proper successor to Eternal Darkness. I like horror games that use the idea of "short stories". Smaller stories that string together but the developers can vary the gameplay and feel which to me, helps keep the entire game feeling fresh as the player can't get used to something long enough to be desensitized to it.

A Daredevil game that's a small but incredibly detailed open-world where building aren't just set pieces, but have actual rooms you can enter. and then there would be a completely modeled underground. Daytime portion of the game would have you playing as a lawyer while the nighttime part lets you collect evidence for your cases. The amount of detail of the world would depend on ambient sound. It'd be like Ace Attorney meets Yakuza.

Childhood Small Town Orphan Survival Simulator/Adventure
This may seem ridiculous, but hear me out…
You play as 3 unrelated orphaned boys from an age range of around 8 to 16, who all live together in an abandoned house in a small semi-rural town somewhere in 1930s America. It'd have a focus on comfy aesthetics, including 4 changing seasons. It'd include all sorts of past-times you can think of, fishing, swimming, snowman, bug-collecting, tree-climbing, makeshift sports, etc. But you can also develop and improve deep relationships and bonds with the citizens of the town, some may despise you, others may enjoy your company. You can listen to stories from and old lady, who might offer you food later. Help the new postman find the house he's looking for or help deliver packages and letters. Wander the woods around the town and discover pioneer relics. Get into fights with schoolkids over stolen items. Help various neighbors accomplish tasks for money or items. Etc.
Over the course of the game different events would happen. A neighbor gets burglarized, a wandering hobo arrives in town, an old person dies, house fire/forest fire, holiday celebrations, festivals, major illness, etc. There would be a lot of options and variety, giving you the freedom to explore and experience the town in your own ways and see the outcome of your actions. Do you spend time playing with other kids, do you help out your neighbors, or do you manage on your own? And unlike most simulations, there would be an end goal or aging to it. War breaks out, do you all join? The oldest turns 18, does he leave town, get a job, etc? There would be different endings depending on how fondly your neighbors remember you or like you. And for those that would want an endless mode, there would be just that where time stands still and you can experience events individually. Other than that, the main idea is a prime comfy game you can experience at your own pace and either explore abandoned buildings / areas or interact with a wide variety of characters and get to know them.
Let me know what you think and if there's any features, events, etc, you'd want to see. Feel free to add, I really enjoy this idea.

A diablo clone that has a fantasy setting which is a synthesis of a whole mess of themes and time periods and this is expressed in the unique cultures of a plethora of countries.
For example, you have this capitol city with a penchant for fantastic clockwork technology and 70's progressive rock music that bears a resemblance to the Wizard of Oz's setting where the knights who patrol it have uniforms like the Swiss Guards in the Vatican and they carry Halberds and Crossbows but they also have snipers with Knight's Armament SR-25's (melee weapons, magic, modern firearms, lasers, whatever are all viable for combat in this setting) and they have a problem with Goblins lurking around in the sewers who dress up like gangbangers from the 90's, drink Malt Liquor, and they go up to the surface at all hours of the day to start riots, rob First National grocery stores with Tec-9's, Hi-Points, chair legs, and fire pokers and cause a persistent nuisance by keeping the populace up at night with gunfights and noisy rap battles in their subterranean domain that they can hear from their water closets.
But then, you have another country that takes on a World War I aesthetic with a capitol that has a castle made of Sandbags and barbed wire, tanks with guns on their sides, and fokker biplanes. And their citizens primarily use radios for entertainment (like listening to Ragtime music) and the news so they're not as advanced as their neighbors like this one country that has an 80's retrofuturist theme where people get around in hovering sports cars with gullwing doors, have televisions with VCR's, are fond of New Wave music, and favor Uzi's and SPAS-12's for combat.
The plot of the game is that this Dieselpunk city has a problem with Orc riots (Orcs like to wear basketball jerseys and loot pawn shops) and you have to trace the source of this problem down into the bowels of the city where it's revealed that an evil necromancer terrorist is tainting the water supply with his dark magic and he's doing it because he's a pawn for a cabal of unscrupulous government officials, wicked viziers, and traitorous generals from every foreign country and they're being manipulated by eldritch demons from other planes of existence including, but not limited to, hell.
After choosing your class, you start off the game killing kobolds, dire moths, and animated road signs with garden trowels, birdshot, white belt-level mall karate, or magic twigs and eventually loot your way to having the costumes and weapons befitting a Bronze Age Akkadian Warrior with a big bushy beard, A World War I Soldier with a gas mask and an enchanted BAR 1918, a Samurai with a Katana and a Teppo strapped to his back, Wizard, Wild West Bandito with a pancho, a Wizard wearing a purple cloak with stars and moons on it shooting chain lightning that bounces between 25 different enemies, a Commando dude with flashbangs and a pair of All-Stars on his feet, a lumberjack with a big axe who comes from a wilderness that has settlements that bear a resemblance to the Canadian frontier of the late 19th century, or what have you.

An adventure game where the protagonist is flung into the future where he sees bizarre, gargantuan machines and buildings created in an architectural style that has not yet been invented that are juxtaposed with other districts and skylines made in such a different architectural style as to make the first bunch look antiquated and this gives him an idea about how far into the future he's gone. The problem is: everybody is a total-conversion cyborg who speaks and writes in an entirely different, unintelligible language that has nothing in common with any language spoken on Earth today (long ago, children didn't even call their mothers anything that starts with an "m," instead, babies said something like 'plugthuh' to refer to their moms), and they don't need to eat or drink because hunger and thirst has been eliminated so farmland has been turned into more urban areas so the object of the game is to get back to your own time before you die of hunger and gather up as much rain water as you can to keep yourself from dying of dehydration.

After that DEX vs STR thread, I really need a game where only muscle wizards exist and STR/INT build is literally the only way to go.
>Game is set in a world where magic exists, but it is more of an essence that flows into your body and on your skin than something that persists in the air
>meaning that while you can cast magic, it loses its power pretty fast, but can last indefinitely as long as it is inside a living being or on its skin
>also meaning that fireballs and AoEs exist, but they don't reach very far, and they are mastered through very extensive training
>and said training is both intellectual with the extensive learning of the "body essence", but also physical training to control said essence in your body, as skinny people tend to not have much in them, and cannot do powerful spells
>as such, magic casters are known to be extremely fit, wizards are known as much for their biceps as they are for their control over the magic flow, and sorceresses have bodies of amazons with delicious abs that shine not because they slathered themselves in body oil, but because you can see the powerful magic on their body
>game is mostly a beat'em all with RPG elements
>but in reality, the "RPG" part is just a strength tree and an intelligence tree (though they can be quite extensive), meaning only one build exists: the muscle wizard
>Strength is all about raising all your stats (HP, MP, physical attack, magical attack, defense, speed, everything), passive boosts and buff states
>Meanwhile, Intelligence allows you to be more creative, as it is where active skills (repair, medicine, speech, cooking, etc) and spells are learned, upgraded, and tuned up
>none of them are to be taken lightly though as one cannot live without the other (You cannot use the best magic attacks very much without physical training, and some enemies do have elemental strengths and weaknesses, so fighting fire with just your basic fire punch is certainly not the best option)
>some spells are ranged or AoE, but due to the nature of magic, it cannot reach more than around 7 meters at late game
>but there are many spells you can do, and some are about fucking around with the magic of your own enemies, mostly by casting your fists all over them
>for instance, you can headbutt someone and corrupt his flow to turn him into an ally, harden the flow on your skin by flexing for a temporary defense buff, focusing your magic on your eyes and brain for a reflex boost, translated into bullet time in the game
>you can even grab a stunned enemy, punch him right into his magic source in his heart, and put it into overdrive so he explodes, hurting nearby foes
>or control a nearby foe's magic flow and push him around, like making him fly into his friends, or pull him to you to close distance and then punch him repeatedly
>as you level up, your character goes from a skinny depressive fart into a respectable buff sorcerer, and the once little squad of three/four foes turn into an army of 750 skinny dudes with some buff dudes here and there to command them in late game
>leveling up is possible through lifting and reading, but the weights have to be heavier as you level up and books can only give xp the first time you read its contents
>optional companions with their own quests, and you can help each other during training
>during loading times, you can get training tips that can applied in real life, so you don't forget to get yourself fit, and warns you if you played for a lot of time, asking you to go get fit after playing to much in one sitting
