When I played the game there didn't seem to be anything really wrong with it, I actually liked that it was kind of mid-fantasy, with monsters and witches and magic, but society being made up of humans instead of a mix of ogres, elves, dwarves and god knows what else like some jewish conspiracy messaging.

But it felt so dry. The combat was unsatisfying and had no weight or flow, the maps, both topology and stuff in it was bland and nothing grabbed my attention, I don't remember a single name from the game the writing was so forgettable. It just felt so phoned in.

Yeah, lots of people don't seem to realize that not every game comes with a mod kit like Bethesda games, which makes modding really hard. They said I was a salty console kiddie when I laughed my ass off when people were saying mods would include shit like all the new classes from the MMO, all the new enemies from the MMO, new gear, new spells, ect. In the end, they couldn't even mod the Berserk gear into the game, and the best they could do was fuck with a few variables that determined the stat growth of classes.

I promoted it in a couple of threads, but just recently I realized that it's actually pretty poor. It's basically a "harder" "Hard mode", and hard mode sucks (http://archive.is/Gga9p). The proper way to make the game harder is to play on normal difficulty, not use pawns and limit the use of curatives, for example, use only jewels of health for healing, carry only 3 of them at a time (needs save edit to actually get some, I got 15 in a complete playthrough and only a single merchant sells one at a time). Jewels of health are awesome, because they have cast time, you have to stay in one small area to receive healing and you can easily limit their amount as opposed to anodyne spell (jewels of health are basically just spell scrolls of anodyne)

Pretty good game but has more than its fair share of problems.

real fucking barebones story, the world getting smaller and smaller the more you travel it. A hamfisted romance mechanic. And the shameful amount of cut content makes for a saddening aftertaste.

Besides both magic hybrids, the vocations feel pretty generic. The only pure physical vocation that actually feels fun is assassin for the steamrolling.

My biggest complaint about the game would be how the story ramps up towards the end just as combat loses most of its charm. Everfall always feels like a chore compared to the changed overworld which is a shame because I can't remember a place to fight the Evil Eye anywhere else. Grigori and the Seneschal are pathetic compared to grimgoblins postgame. BBI is a fun challenge but thats really all it is. Got a kick out of the hand to hand rings, but again with the pushover final boss.

Also, Mercedes is shit tier.

If you have multiple people at max affinity the dragon will pick the last one you talked to, you can lower an NPCs affinity by taking out your weapons in front of them, hurting them or throwing them but the best way is to gift them a Liquid Effluvium to put their affinity to the lowest point possible.

Everytime I go back to this game I get a few hours in, maybe a dozen and then just lose all interest to continue. A real shame as the game is good but still has a bunch of problems.
