Download the pirated version below and follow the instructions. Unfortunately,
pirates can only play with other pirates
which is why the purpose of this gamenight is to play the pirated version. That's because the only way to crack this game with working multiplayer is to use a cracked steam server with its own client. That also means that legit servers won't show up into the server browser, so you'll know that any server you do see is from another anon and you can connect to it.

DLC files aren't included so don't bother trying to run them
When you make an account don't be stupid by using a real username or password.
Real/fake steam will not try to log in to each other but they will fill the username field with whatever was last used, so make sure you're using the right one.
If you disconnect when loading a bunch of resources just reconnect and it should work after that

I'm afraid the usual workaround isn't possible for various technical reasons I only half understand broadly speaking the devs kiked out and fucked with the game to make piracy harder, they even removed lan and connect by IP for legit players claiming that you can't do that if you want to use Steam for multiplayer which is an outright fucking lie, multiplayer basically works as online only. To get around this a kindly anon is running an entirely fake Steam so obviously don't use real usernames or passwords for it.

As for how it differs from the normal solution used for gamenights I again don't understand the specifics but I think there what happens is instead of passing account IDs of incoming players to (((Valve))) for authentication their accounts exist, own the game in question and aren't globally banned or anything a step that is separate from any bans you might have in place on your specific server you pass them to a fake authentication server you control that always comes back with a 'clear'. That's why both legitfakes with real account IDs and people sending fake IDs in with an emulated Steam client are ok: whatever you send in comes back fine. In this case what's being emulated is Steam's servers instead. Certainly the first sort of hijacking the authentication system is how older cracked servers used to work and is for example how the Call of Duty: United Offensive cracked server functioned though back in those days you'd be authenticating the CD Key rather than an account ID actually sometimes Steam also does that but let's not get overcomplicated.
I expect one of the /tech/fags to come hit me for making mistakes in this post.

Sure, there's nothing wrong with simple games. The game already comes with stuff like checkers and a standard deck of cards. Off the top of my head I've got Monopoly, i might only have the one with anime girls on it though Uno, The Game of Life, Clue, Mancala, and a very fancy version of Scrabble. If you can think of any specific games you'd like to play just name them and I'll see if I can find anything for them. A lot of stuff is on the workshop already and sometimes you can find scans of cards online that you can import easily.

How do I play?
Launch the game from steam.
What gamemodes are there?
Overcharge where you have to fight over a battery and keep it in your base until it reaches 100% charge. The battery keeps its charge so it's possible to steal it at 99% and cuck the other team majorly.
Uplink is pretty much the same thing as Overcharge except the progress is linked to the team not the object so cucking isn't possible.
Occupy is like King of the Hill with a zone that occasionally moves around.
Turf War is like King of the Hill but with 3 zones. Capturing a zone will get you one point and remove the zone. Once all 3 zones are captured they are reset. This continues until the score limit.
Blitzball has nothing to do with that shitty Final Fantasy minigame. You have to capture a ball and bring it back to your base. The ball will explode if it's held for too long.
Server?
Lawbreakers currently does not have a server browser or private game feature. Just enter the queue normally. Due to the low amount of players we are probably all going to be matched together.

If you have trouble connecting it's most likely due to that game host's connection. Either try a different server or host one yourself. Ignore any game update messages. Port forwarding shouldn't be required , but make sure the game and steam are unblocked in your firewall.
Some useful commands for hosts:
Type /debug in chat and take screenshots of your readout if any networking issues come up. Use the following networking chat commands to help make adjustments when clients are connected.
Network Commands
/networktickrate 20-120 (default 60) – this is how often the network will transmit data each second.
/networkpackets 1-5 (default 2) – how many packets per tick to send out. Higher values make it so more objects can be synchronized each tick. (Host only command)
/networkinterpolate 0-5 (default 1.1) – the amount of time for interpolation, increasing this value increases smoothness but also increases input lag for the clients. (Client only command)
/networkquality 0-2 (0=high, 1=medium, 2=low) – changes the overall quality presets.
If you are having networking issue try:
/networkquality 2
This will require 4 times less bandwidth than the default.
Restarting the game will reset these commands to default.

Legitfag here, these are the games I play enough to be able to run people through reasonably well. I will have you guys pick which one you want to play (if any).
I will be running base games only because I'm a scrub at /tg/ stuff and I haven't even played with any expansions yet.
1.) Arkham Horror
3-5 players (ideal)
2-3 hours game time
You choose an investigator and work together to defeat an ancient horror before it awakens and destroys the town. Gameplay mainly consists of gathering clues, sealing gates to other dimensions and fighting horrors with combat that is reminiscent of a pen & paper RPG.
There is very minor stat manipulation and a heck of a lot of things going on making this the most complicated of the choices.
2.) Settlers of Catan
3-4 Players
1-1.5 hours game time
Build settlements and roads competing for resources against other players. The first to 10 victory points wins, but watch out for the nigger robber, who can steal half your shit and prevent you from collecting resources on a tile.
Imagine Sid Meier's Civilization for babies.
3.) Boss Monster
2-4 Players
45 minutes (beginners)/20 Minutes (experienced) game time
Take control of a powerful Boss Monster at the end of a dungeon you design as you play. Build rooms filled with monsters, traps, or hot succubi and lure adventurers in with the promise of treasure. The first to collect 10 adventurer's souls wins but if you take 5 damage before then, you lose. Other players can affect your dungeon through spell cards so be wary.
This game is entirely cards, making it a lighter gameplay experience. Also, get ready to clap when you understand the epic video game references on many of the cards.
4.) Quarriors
2-4 Players
30 Minutes game time
This game is played entirely with dice. Imagine Dungeon Dice Monsters without the whole grid gimmick.
Roll dice and spend resources to summon monsters or buy more powerful dice. Players score points by having their monsters survive from the time they are summoned to their next turn. Monsters automatically attack every player on the turn their summoned, so no bullying here.
This game is probably the simplest but still a lot of fun. Don't forget to buy those portal dice ASAP.
I'm going to fuck off for about ten minutes so let me know if anyone is interested in one of these choices. The game with the most votes that also meets the player count will win and I'll set that shit up real quick.

It won't start and the update keeps going back to simply being queued up rather than actually downloading anything.

Where is it in your files? if it's in a file that has special characters in the name, it won't download. Also make sure if you have the legitimate version of steam that you close it first.

It shouldn't need to download. If it's trying to download instead of playing then the game files must be corrupted or missing, so try extracting the archive again and maybe redownloading it.
