Basically cucktaku spoke with Nintendo and said they had "no plans to bring classic games together under the Virtual Console banner as has done before on other Nintendo systems."
Guess the NES mini and SNES mini sold too well for these shit eating bastards. Good thing homebrew is coming right up, otherwise I would've actually been mad.

Good. The emulation for VC systems ranged from decent (SNES, Genesis, GBA) to outright dogshit (N64 and the fucking NES for some reason) and wasn't worth the inflated prices to pay what you can do for free elsewhere. It was also obvious Cucktendo didn't plan ahead with licensing roms for digital distribution, hence why by 2008 we went from 5 games a week, to a couple, to eventually 0 games uploaded during a week.

0f6095 No.14758755
Suppose NES classic bit them in the ass. Nobody wants to spend $5 on one NES game anymore. Now the question is whether or not online subscription will be the only way to play Nintendo's old games or not?
Pretty sure a non-subscription alternative with VC prices will be possible. However idiots will see the better value in buying subscription anyway. So they may as well have a Nintendo Classic offline subscription, which could cannibalize online subscription.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Fuck paid online!

That happened before the classic. Most people would still pay that much for the big games, but then there's Urban Champion, Pinball and a bunch of obscure shit that no one cares for, that costs just as much as the big games. I think their model now will be to sell the classic/mini line and make shekels off of that, and then also make profit off of their online, and to attempt to justify the price, they'll give you old games as a "bonus".
0f6095 No.14758800

A Netflix style model is really the only option Nintendo has at this moment for ROMs. Problem is that model is dependent on the number of Switch owners to be profitable. The initial games right now are free with subscription. However I do expect a Nintendo Archive subscription fee to be introduced once they announce more games.

It's kind of decent if you get a cheap one second hand. The controllers that came on the S/NES mini are pretty good, but you can also use them on a Hacked Wii, which is much more convenient and you can use it on a CRT (if only there was a way to plug them directly into the console instead of doing it via WiiMote. There are custom-made adapters for plugins real SNES controllers into the Gamecube port of the Wii, but those are kinda expensive to come by (I still want one, though)
