It has come to my attention that a project by the name of BlueMaxima's Flashpoint is trying to archive all flash games he can due Adobe saying that (((they))) will be ending support for Flash (http://archive.is/bh4oQ). He and his team crack, curate, test and put every game inside a launchbox frontend for convenience.
You can download the last version from here :

The guy operates from a disagreement (http://bluemaxima.org/flashpoint/) and takes requests so if you want to drop some shit in there you can. He even takes NSFW stuff so be prepared to see some nasty shit. The only requirements are that the game runs in Adobe Flash Player and that the game has interactivity beyond the start button at the beginning so things like VNs and animations with some interactivity are allowed. C'mon anon, let's see if we can save the entire Sex Kitten saga. Or even those games where you torture Tifa or Kasumi. Or even those games where you coerce your sister to be your sex slave.

Aren't there already standalone flash players, even if browser support gets culled? OR can Adobe send out something that kills those too if they don't want to deal with Flash any longer?
Anyhow, it would be nice if they, or someone else, could do something like stitch the old Bionicle Mata Nui Online 1 adventure game back into a single file, with the ability to create and use a custom save file. Game originally used a Lego.com account to save data too, and I know I've seen the game hosted online and broken into chunks before to bypass the save issue (Lego having long since shut the official one down), but I'm not sure how valid a "use offline" one currently is.

The thing with flash is that it was a useful tool for adding interactivity and providing a powerpoint alternative that could be embedded in a website, but then people only ever used it for having a music/video player in browser, then it was just a video player, but adobe's updates kept making flash perform worse and worse to the point where a native html implementation for video playback is more efficient.
It's still a mystery how the hell a company can continuously update a product and only have a negative performance gain.

It's not that Flash games won't be playable, but that we may lose access to them. Flash has a history of security vulnerabilities. Imagine what will happen when (not if) a major one is found after support is dropped. Most browsers simply won't include it in anticipation of this, which drastically lowers the market size. In turn, it will result in a drought of new material. I'm not optimistic about the outcome.
>countless smaller sites will close shop and take their libraries with them
>companies like Cartoon Network and Nick will almost certainly ditch Flash altogether (a lot of their older stuff is hard to find as is)
>sites like Newgrounds and Kongregate will start pushing HTML5 over Flash, and will need to decide what to do with the old stuff
A lot of old Shockwave games are gone. Even if you have a copy of one, trying to open a .dcr file these days is a pain in the ass. This project is doing a lot of good in preventing Flash from meeting that same fate.

The best way to keep your old flash files around in the future will be to run the standalone player. I run the standalone in wine to play flash games or watch flash movies right now, and it works fine. In the future, a Windows VM or emulator may be needed if the open source player situation never improves and Adobe does not release the source.
As for other problems with archiving flash games, there is DRM and external resources. ffdec can be good for removing some simple DRM from games. I hear some later versions of Flash after Adobe took over can be used to open swf files as if they were the original fla files, so that is a good option as well. I don't think it is that big of a problem. For games that require external resources, it may be necessary to use your web browser's developer tools to watch network traffic or to use an actual packet capturer like Wireshark, unless you want to open the swf itself to see where the files are being downloaded from. It should be enough to download them and keep the directory structure the same on your machine. Stinkoman works in this way. For some games it may be necessary to alter the base url as well. I would upload Stinkoman, but if it is still receiving updates, then my copy is probably out of date.

Mostly because I wanted to know if it would work, and it did. It gives me comfort to know what can and can't run in Wine. Also a holdover from when I heard that Adobe said no more Linux updates. I keep multiple versions of the projector too, just in case older swfs cease to run correctly in newer versions. Some of my swfs are ancient. I would be interested in a firejail profile for the Linux version though.
