Beamdog really started to catch shit because of Siege of Dragonspear, their donut steel DLC to the original. The rerelease itself had a slightly cringy chaos mage optional character but that was really the extent of it.

And not much ruckus was raised for their Torment rerelease, so I'd say it requires additional research.

Though it must be said, even if they did nothing to the original Torment, original would still be the natural choice, provided you can run it.

You have to play out getting hit, tense up and feel the knock out. Get your shit up to Baki levels (read Baki Grappler if you want to learn more and read a great manga). This is a LIFE SKILL.

Projects: This requires greater fitness all-around. You are acting independently, as a leader, and failure is objective and visceral. Getting shit done in the greatest way possible: from beginning to end, with a clear finish. You'll gain neuroplasticity, learn skills, be active and raise your test even. It's a LIFE SKILL. Gain it. Being a slow dumb fuck = failure in a real project. Small projects, small gains. Medium projects, moderate gains. Big projects, GAAAAIIINSSS.

Passion: Just apply it. It's fire, struggle, challenge, do or die, do and survive, kill 'em, slayin' it, stylin' on a nigga, … (other ghetto phrases here) … , true determination, zest, life. Passion is a LIFE SKILL.

If you didn't know, Julian Gollop (the creator of the original X-COM games), had nothing to do with XCOM and XCOM 2. He is currently leading the development of a spiritual successor to the series, Phoenix point, which is supposed to come out soon. You also may have heard of "Long War", which was a massive overhaul of XCOM done by seasoned modders/fans that eclipsed the vanilla game completely. As a result, XCOM 2's development was heavily influenced by Long War, to the point where Firaxis communicated with Long War modders (who had, at this point, banded together to form a new studio named "Pavonis Interactive") to design the game with architecture that would hopefully facilitate a Long War 2. It did, but unfortunately, XCOM 2 had a rushed release, and suffered severe stability issues that have never been patched (except through DLC), though Long War 2 did end up being a hit, again. Pavonis seems to have left the XCOM modding scene, which may skew whether or not the game gets a sequel, but they have a website set up, and are apparently working on a new game, "Terra Invicta", which will have a crowdfunding campaign soon.

If I had to guess, XCOM isn't going to get much more support. It'll become a series of strange self-contained DLCs. The other games look promising, though.

Depends what you are looking for. The two most common mods I see mentioned are Wesp's unofficial patch, and the Antitribu mod. Wesp's patch is what most people recommend since it contains a lot of crucial bugfixes and restores some lost content. The Antitribu mod lets you play as other clans that aren't in the base game, but it doesn't work that great with the overall story.

Because of the way damage calculation works in Dragon's Dogma, it's a frequent occurrence that you deal 0 damage to enemies that drastically outlevel you. Death is a very high level enemy that can be killed for an optional late game quest, and the level cap is 200, so you're a ways off. You can exponentially increase your damage output by stacking buffs like periapts and Tagilus' Miracle (each can be stacked several times apiece) but you might have to wait to kill Death.

If I remember correctly Death doesn't heal between encounters, so you can chip him down over time instead of doing it in one go. Just cross your fingers and hope he doesn't spawn in a room full of sirens.

Im playing Dragon Dogma DA as a ranger, and i have both the Dragon's Blink Longbow (Which is in basic Dragon Forged), and i recently got the Dragon's Glaze. Now for the looks of it, DG have ice affinity by default, and its magickal damage is higher, plus its only a little less of phisical damage. But its is more worthy than the DB Longbow? With my stas, the Dragon's Glaze with three stars does 937 of phisycal damage+594 magickal damage, while the dragonforged Dragon's Blink, which is not magical, does 998 phisycal+286 magical.

Im not sure about how does Dragons Dogma damage works well. Which longbow should i use? I got the Dragon's Glaze bow because I heard it was usefull agaisnt Eliminators and other hard to kill shit in Bitterblack Island….

First two that pop into my head are dark souls, which had swords that acted as magical foci, and dragon's dogma, which had magic archers and mystic knights which used their bows and 1-handed weapons respectively (although i think you couldn't cast a standard fireball or anything like that without a staff).

You're going to want Dragon's Glaze. That's a pitiable amount of physical damage lost for such an increase in magical damage.

However, I will STRONGLY caution against using weapons that are evenly split between physical damage and magical damage. A weapon that does 500 physical and 500 magical damage is unbelievably weaker than a weapon that does 1000 physical because of how the armor system works. Enemies have a physical armor value and a magical armor value, and, to oversimplify a little, each of those values operates as a straight flat reduction in the amount of damage you do. This is incredibly punishing to weapons that deal evenly split damage and only a minor inconvenience to weapons that deal primarily one or the other.

For comparison:

Weapon A does 500 physical damage and 500 magical damage.

Weapon B does 800 physical damage and 0 points of magical damage.

From a straight numbers comparison, Weapon A seems like the obvious choice, and were the game not using flat damage reduction it almost definitely would be.

However, because of the flat damage reduction system, you get into situations like this: an enemy with 450 physical protections and 450 magical protections will take only 100 points of damage from weapon A (500 phys damage - 450 phys armor, and 500 magic damage - 450 magic armor), while it will take 350 points of damage from Weapon B (800 phys damage - 450 phys armor, magic damage does not break magic defense). As such it is always preferable to take weapons that have very high values in either damage type and extremely low numbers in the other versus weapons that split them near evenly. In other words, when comparing weapons, completely ignore each weapon's lower damage type and only compare the two highest damage values.

It is very possible that the 61 points of raw physical damage you lose will considerably negatively impact your overall damage, I just consider it relatively unlikely. If the bow you're using now is doing decent damage to most enemies, you'll be fine switching for a bow with 60 less power. And it's an issue that will solve itself by getting it dragonforged anyway.

tl;dr In this case it's probably fine to switch to the new bow, but in general you're going to want whichever weapon has the single highest damage type.

All the games are mostly pretty mindless, but I really liked that one mc.escher-like puzzle in 3, and that rotating cube dungeon. Tearing Helios's head off and using it as a lantern was cool. Dragon Dogma DA is around 10 bucks in GOG now, but I heard that its somewhat not updated to the latest. How much important are said updates? Anyone ever try playing a lightgun rail-shooter's 2-player co-op solo by dual-wielding lightguns? I just played the Wii port of House of the Dead 2 & 3 using two Wiimotes and was astounded by the options it opens up. You can shoot two separate targets at once, alternate firing and reloading each gun to deliver a constant stream of bullets, or just rapidly dump both at once into a single target. Now I'm trying to figure out a way to strap a Wiimote to a Nunchuk, so I can dual-wield in Sin & Punisment: Star Successor.

Even a brand new XBOX couldn't keep the internal clock more than a few hours if unplugged.

It could also be overheating but honestly your XBOX is most likely in a bad shape, if the cap leaked and you kept on using it it's also possible that it's damaged beyond repair

Open it and get rid of the cap asap, don't need to replace unless you have a 1.6 (but then the cap most likely wouldn't be faulty), it's not hard.

Now if the cap leaked you're gonna have to also remove the whole motherboard and manually clean the leakage which is a bit harder and longer, depending how bad it looks it might still be salvageable.

Samurai Warriors (2 or 3, 4 is heh) is the best if you want to get more historical context for Nioh's setting. It's no documentary, but it romanticizes history just enough so it's still super warriors killing hundreds and still learn about historical battles and events. The game has a stupid "double click" feature. Basically, every action can be bound on double-clicking a mouse button.

Because that feature exists, any binding to a mouse button is delayed since it has to wait for the double-click time window to expire.

The hacky fix people used at launch is to simply bind the mouse-bound actions they wanted to keyboard buttons, and then use autohotkey to then bind the mouse buttons to those keyboard buttons.

From, fortunately, fixed that issue! They later added an option to disable double-click functionality entirely. When used, double-click bindings no longer work, and single-click bindings trigger instantly as they should.

Unfortunately, From are a bunch of incompetent fucking retards, making the new option not load correctly on startup. This means that every time you launch the game, you have to first re-enable double-click, and then disable it again, in order to properly disable it.

This issue was never fixed, even in the SotFS.

I can't really say how much better the hdd vs the GDemu is. Your best bet is just looking up compatibility charts and speed charts and see which one works better for you. Also the GDemu is a hell of a lot easier to use compared to an hdd in most cases so that's one note in it's favor.

Okay, I know I should ask /adgd/ about this. However this isn't about the hows but they whys. I'm making a top-down perspective point and click action/adventure RPG. Should I use hand drawn sprites for characters or should I use 3D models instead? I'm using a 3D engine for visual effects and a fixed camera. With sprites the characters are going to have 8 face directions while 3D models will give characters full 360 degree rotation.

Combat is real-time and instead of clicking a command to attack an enemy your will automatically attack an enemy when you walk into it or click on it. Depending on the character's direction vs the enemy's will determine the results of bonuses, blocks, counter attacks, etc. Kind of like old school Ys I and II but with point and click controls. I liked Factorio because it was very different from other survival/building games i played. Binged it for two weeks straight.
