bd5db7 No.14743646

so I finally got around to playing Conkers Bad Fur Day and have been having some genuine fun. What are some other must play 3d platformers?

bd5db7 No.14743664

also, has there been any fixes for DK64 and Mario Sunshine's emulation?

Give 'A Hat in Time' a whirl. It made big waves last year by being an amazing kickstarter 3D platformer game after poopa-gaylee flopped. It also has the (heckin) cutest anti-capitalist loli you'll ever see.

I also don't use unauthorized emulators, so I can't help you on your second question.

I am considering making a competitive 3d platformer in the vein of Mario Odysseys Luigi's Balloon World. The entire game will be a collection of intricate varied worlds with fluid running and traversal mechanics designed to be mastered to get the most out of the game. The main difference is it's designed from the ground up for competitive play. Meaning the best hiders and finders will be ranked and the object you hide will be able to be hidden everywhere you can possibly reach. If you can get to the tallest point in the map and jump somewhere you shouldn't be capable of reaching without perfect accuracy it's fair game.

I was thinking about giving the game an Indiana Jones/pulp adventure vibe to set it apart. Kind of like Pitfall I guess.

Jesus Christ. What did you honestly expect out of this thread? OP wanted us to offer him game recommendations. If you think that the anons responding to him are quote "shilling" unquote, I seriously don't know what else to tell you. A Hat in Time was the most recent 3D platformer I actually did have a lot of fun with (especially the train rush level), so that was the game I recommended that he should check out.

There has never been a truly great 3D platformer, the genre just doesn't work outside of 2D. Nostalgia is the only reason people like the N64-era games.

barring that one faggot's obvious shilling, A Hat in Time actually is pretty decent; the vanilla game is short though. I put about 8 hours into it, and then about another hour and a half cleaning up/100%ing the base game, but i'm dropping an hour or two into it every week still with the steam workshop levels. I'd say give it a pirate for sure, if nothing else. it would be worth getting on sale for the steam workshop shit though. The community for it is pretty active, always putting new shit out every few days.

> Jack and Daxter

Only the Precursor Legacy really maintains along with the 3D Platformer stuff, the other two STILL do some but they veer off so much because the devs wanted the GTA crowd. I still liked 2 and 3, but not nearly as much as 1

ah man I LOVED that game when I was a kid. Had just the right amount of edge to be cheesy enough without going overboard. A lot of the worlds were pretty damn fun too.

Amount of techniques required to reach the location, amount of attempts, think like golf but with jumps. You're rewarded with points based on how quickly you reach the objective and how little effort it takes. If you can reach the objective in 3 jumps in under ten seconds it will stand that someone who takes 26 jumps and several minutes will fall a lot lower in the rankings.

>recommended a fun recent 3d platformer to OP

>became notorious all of a sudden

This board can be absolutely retarded sometimes.

And it's not like the 3d platformer genre has seen a lot of sunlight in recent memory. Its heyday has already passed a long time ago. They just don't make a shitton of 3d platformers like they use to. For every great one like A Hat in Time or Super Mario Odyssey that (rarely) comes along, not a lot of new titles are being made now. (Excluding those that are utter disappointments like Yooka-Laylee, that is.)

I seriously can't think of many recent 3d platformers that I honestly had fun with. Just maybe a handful at most.

>also, zero A press vid

A Hat in Time

It's everything I ever wanted from Sunshine, with the tightest fucking Keyboard and Mouse controls I never knew I wanted. It has the problem of the one-off communism joke, which is funny, because it was written by a company offering a product in an open market for a voluntary exchange between two consenting parties in exchange for money, which they probably didn't believe in after raking in so much money off of the game's success, but it didn't mar the experience for me too much. It's real problem is that there's not nearly enough of it. On the other hand, there's too many good things to say about it, I wouldn't know where to start.

What's wrong with emulators? What's the difference between an "authorized" emulator where they make you pay for an old game and one you get for free? And I mean, besides the "moral" argument.
