Has this ever happened before?

Where most versions of the same game are a completely different game?

Take Sims 2 for example:

>Sims 2 GBA

>You're apart of a reality TV show about a town called 'Strangetown' except nobody knows they're in a reality TV show except you.

>Every level is an episode where you have to solve different problems throughout the town through conversational minigames

>Sims 2 DS

>You roll up into town and suddenly inherit a Hotel

>Complete goals set by the game and keep the hotel clean and expand the hotel to get more guests

>Sims 2 PSP

>Your car breaks down, then the garage where your car was being fixed just disappears

>so then you walk up the road into town and suddenly get given a haunted mansion

>then the game tells you to go meet the neighbours and a mystery unfolds

>Also the mansion comes with a darkskinned maid tobully

>Where most versions of the same game are a completely different game?

For whatever it is worth, I vaguely remember that the N64 version of Forsaken was wildly different from the PC/PS1 equivalent. Not in term of the genre, but it had its own levels and such. Then again, the same holds true for Doom 64.

Powerslave has different level design across all of its ports

In case of the PC release its a completely different gameplay structure.

I believe the pc version and n64 versions of tonic trouble have different cutscenes.

On second thought, was it possible to seduce married Sims in Sims 1/2? I knew that you could only produce a baby if the Sim was in the same household, but creating a new char in a neighborhood only to cuck out the other men living there suddenly seems like an oddly hilarious long-term plan.

the MySims games were the same way

I wonder why EA did that

The DS versions of lego games were almost always inferior to the console versions as well because of the gimped levels

Sims 3 was great for this because it wasn't instanced, so you could go around fucking every woman in the game and spreading your genes, bonus points if you mod the game to remove the slider limits and make the entire town full of little freakshows.

I'm more surprised so many people know the game, it's a really good console FPS but nobody ever seems to talk about it.

Do different experiences with otherwise identical assets count?

NFS Hot Pursuit II on the PC

>Made by the developers of the first 5 games, everyone expected it to be High Stakes 2 following Porsche Unleashed

>Lackluster graphics, a major victim of the sudden graphic quality explosion of 2000 - 2002

>No modding capabilities (alas, none of the games after this could be modded, but this was highly unexpected)

>Cruder physics engine that had hardly changed from the earlier installments

>Beta version looked like a modded HP/HS from the turn of the millennium and few saw reason to play it after completion

NFS Hot Pursuit II on the PS2

>Given to a no-name subdivision called Black Box

>Cutting edge graphics with impressive effects, great atmosphere and minimal slowdown

>Translated perfectly onto the console, arguably a more complete experience

>Better physics engine that made the game so much more enjoyable to play

>EA ended up so impressed with Black Box's handling of the installment that they made them the official developers for the next 9 years

You completely forgot the Wii version.

>Go on a vacation in the Caribbean

>The cruise ship gets BTFO by a hurricane

>you have to survive on a tropical island and adopt chimpanzees

That was known as Castaway and appeared on basically every main console that had the original game, along with Pets. Vanilla Sims 2 never came out on Wii, only GC.

Oddly enough, the youtube releases of all the Uncharted games require you to press less buttons to see the next cutscene. Don't know what's up with that.

Is the PC version still running on the same engine as all the previous games or something? It looks pretty similar aside from some better textures and car models.

>>14724321

Huh.

This whole time I thought it was just for Wii and PSP. I guess that's what I get for trusting a cheat code book as a source.

the old harry potter games were like that, even the gba and the gbc version for the same movie/book tie-in were vastly different, to say nothing about the console releases

too bad that somewhere along the way harry potter games went from decent games to shovelware movie tie-in crap
