Braton Prime works well on Nekros too. It requires 4-5 forma before that point, as well as a at least 3 of the dual stat mods, but if you're running level 60+ stuff (i.e. sorties) then you have the ability to get 3/4 of the dual stat mods whenever you want assuming RNGesus is with you. A corrosive/heat build with Shred strips armor quickly and ammo isn't an issue because Nekros.

My theory on why the Warframe community isn't absolute bollocks compared to other games is because the new player experience is absolute dogshit with minimal handholding or explanation on what anything is or does, so veteran players can sympathize with new players asking questions and usually have enough spares to help others out, while newbies are better off being informed by looking up third-party information through, clans, wikis or YouTube videos. On top of that the game not always requiring all players in a team to be at their best, so one or two guys can easily carry a game and you won't have people blaming others for losses because of how rare it is to actually fail a mission (unless you're playing pub Spy).

I think you're right. Steve talked about in a recent interview Noclip channel on youtube if you want to look, but the asshole did an interview with LW1 so maybe try and find a mirror if you're interested, the interview with Steve is still good but I ain't linking it directly where he mentioned how re-designing the front-end "newbie" experience generally doesn't change retention rate for a game. Either someone is into it, or they're not, and in the case of Warframe, you look at the mod list with the few dozen mods you have by the time the tutorial is over and you're either ok with this, or you think it's too much and you logout and never log back in. I think people that are more inclined to work for their reward will, in general, create a better player experience. In that sense, I'm glad the early game is a steep cliff to climb. It goes a long way towards weeding out idiots who want to have everything handed to them.

Define "better." You want to have Serration for rifles, Point Blank for shotties, Hornet Strike for secondaries and Pressure Point for melee, plus any of the silver elemental mods (like Fever Strike or Heated Charge, among others) so you can mix and match for various types of damage.

As this anon >>14722893 mentioned, you can get other "advanced" mods from Nightmares and Nightmare alerts, auras from regular alerts, and some specialty dual stat mods from spy and sabotage missions. Spy missions in the non-Lua and Fortress areas will generally get you a chance at dual stat cold mods. Dual stat heat mods tend to be found in Nightmare missions. Dual stat toxin mods are from Vor in high-levle void missions, and dual stat electricity is sold only from Baro.

"Corrupted" mods are another class that only appear in void derelict missions, and require a special key (known as a dragon key, of which there are 4 varieties) in order to access. It's best to setup a group of 4, one guy each with a different key, in order to ensure you'll be able to open the vault when you find it. Any non-assassination or defense mission in the derelict can spawn a vault, and the mods they have always come with a positive and a negative. I.e. Blind Rage will drastically increase your power strength at the cost of lower your efficiency, while Fleeting Expertise will pump up your efficiency while lowering duration. Many advanced builds for frames and weapons utilize a combination of normal, dual stat, and corrupted mods

Alternatively, you can usually find people selling all sorts of mods on the market or via trade chat. That tends to be the easier route, since selling prime parts for plat is generally faster and more reliable than hoping for RNGesus to not be a dick.

The challenge treasure room is probably the best place to get a variety of mods fairly early game. For that quest, you gotta build the Limbo part.

It's a shit quest that was broken for a long ass time (not sure if it's still broken, if you barely have enemies spawning on the excavation missions, you're fucked) but you can build a great frame with it.

Word of advice: build limbo, level it to 30 for the mastery rank but then put it on ice for a good few month. Limbo is one of those frames that requires you to know the game in and out.

A bad limbo is an actual hindrance to his team, while a good Limbo is one of the best frames you could ask for.

We already have a hunter frame but woodframe casting thicc trees doesnt seem far fetched. Have her summon trees and let those shoot out birds with another ability/buff. Make the roots trip enemies to force prolonged knockdowns. Light the crown up for large fire AOEs and put it out with water/ice for big steam clouds causing blind effects.

Woody howls to summon birds of prey, attacking the nearest enemy or forming a flock on a spot, eating the nearest corpses for buff. When Octavia present the howl accompanies the hymn. When Nidus' maggots present the birds will be summoned already buffed.

2 - Swamp

Woody barfs on the floor creating a puddle that gets bigger over time, consuming energy as long as 2 is pressed. Enemies entering the AOE will slow by max.75%. desintegrate into a viral cloud upon kill.

3 - Trees of the Fathers

Woody summons a tree at spot. The tree will have the inherent element of its sorroundings and will respond to the opposing element. If cast on swampy ground the tree will suck it up to cast its branches and roots over the original swamp AOE, flailing about dealing slash and impact dmg. Hit enemies will recieve knockdown and stay in this state for a prolonged time.

Treetrunk is not passable, trees cast in doorways will deny entrance for Tenno and enemies.

Dealing opposing element dmg will cause the tree to wither and release a massive AOE with guaranteed proc.

4 - In Life is Death

Woody sacrifices himself and falls into knocked-out state, dropping his energy to 0 and his hp to 1. This is permanent until second 4 is pressed. If no summoned birds are present, 4 will trigger 1 as well. The birds will immidietly start to eat Woody on second buttonpress and will continue to do so as long as 4 is hold, luring in more birds each second. Upon releasing 4 Woody will completely desintegrate and the flock will spread like daggers in all directions, creating small swamps at kill. Woody will resurrect at first swamp that is spawned with 50% of his energy and life.

This is getting more fun the more I think about it. If tree present, birds will not die upon first attack but will fly into the tree and stay there, adding puncture to the branch attacks. 1use is infinite but has a strong cooldown, giving players the choice of buffing small flocks or focusing on the 3 and putting more birds into it in a shorter period of time. Well, first of all your starting frame may or may not be the one to get that first potato and formas to be able to carry you around, Excalibur is the balanced one, a little boring for some people, melee oriented, Mag dies to a sneeze but has some interesting abilities here and there, Volt is just very fast and has some CC but most people don't recommend him.

I personally recommend using Excalibur, the tutorial will provide you with some starting weapons, very weak but OK, my recommendation, choose the bow (mk1-Paris), the pistol (Lato) and the staff (mk1-Bo), the bow is silent and has good damage, the pistol has some decent range and the staff has some nice range as well.

THEN… let me fetch a list of weapons with low mastery rank that may be reliable enough for a blue potato.

This one is a sniper rifle, loud, single shot, more or less reliable, the downside is of course, hip firing is stupidly inaccurate.

Secondary weapon: Lex

Basically a magnum, high recoil, small magazine but tons of power (only superseeded by Lex Prime and others later in the game), loud as hell but it hits like a truck.

Melee weapon: Amphis

This one is an electrostaff, super fast and a very good upgrade from the mk1-bo, this one deserves a blue potato and you can build it very early in the game.

Now, rule of thumb, even though your starting weapons suck take the time to level them up to max rank (30) before ditching them, once you have a replacement you can sell them for credits but every item you rank to 30 for the first time contributes to your Mastery Rank which lets you access more weapons and items.

Gonna give you an advice everyone here will agree with: it's tempting to spend your platinum on new frames and weapons.

Don't. 70% of the game is farming for those weapons and frames. The game IS "carrot-on-stick simulator". If you buy frames with platinum, you remove the carrot and just around with a stick on your head.

The essential things:

There are no shitty frames/weapons, everything is viable and good but only if you put a potato on it.

Much, much later you'll get into the min/maxing autismo and notice that guns are like animals: all of them are equally good but some are more equally good.

This is part of the mix/max autismo you'll get into later. Some niche weapons require it or you're stuck with 4-5 mods instead of 8.

If you want to avoid this at first, look up the wiki for guns that come with innate polarities, that will save you some forma at first.

If you want to collect every single gun and frame, just buy them as you need it (the game will prompt you when you run out).

Otherwise, whenever you get a gun/frame, level it to rank 30 (for the mastery points) and decide if you like it. If you do, stick a potato, forma it into a killing machine and get more slots.

You'll also need slots for archwing, frames and sentinels.

Don't bother until you've cleared the star chart. Or atleast before finishing the second dream.

After that, I'd only advise buying Greater Lenses and putting them on frames you like.

lenses on weapons aren't as effective, Eidolon lenses can't be bought (and have a shit drop rate) while normal lenses drop but gathering 4 to craft into a great lense might take a long fucking while.

So, the total cost to fully gear up a frame is:

>Potato Blue x3 (20p) -> for weapons

>Potato Yellow x2 (20p) -> for frame and sentinel/companion

Comes out at 140p.

That 20$ pack (with the -75% discount9 with 2200 platinum is enough for 15 frames.

I wouldn't include forma because that's easy enough to farm but I'd include potatos since while you can get them for free, it's a rare occurence and you're better off just shelling the dough.

As you can see, if you're just going strickly for gameplay, the game isn't all that jewish. 15 frames will give you atleast 150 hours of varied gameplay.

But a word of warning: if you get into the cosmetic shit? You're gonna find yourself really, really poor. But really good looking too, Fashionframe IS the endgame afterall.

An addendum because I realized how confusing the forma/potato thing might be to a new player.

So, you get a gun, open the "upgrade menu" and find 8 slots for mods.

Let's assume you've played the game for a long ass time and you've got a shitload of possible mods you wanna put there.

Each mod has an energy cost. Some crappy one's cost 7, the bigger and stronger one's cost 15 (not necessarily the best, mind you).

The maximum energy you can use is determined by the rank of your weapon. After playing around with it for a while, it will max out at 30. So that's 30 points you can use.

Well, shit, that's 2 "15 energy" mods and 6 empty slots, you think.

So the first thing you can do is sticking a potato on it. This will double the amount of energy available to 60. That's 4 slots with 15 energy mods, looking better uh? But that's still half the mod slots unused.

Most of the mods you'll use will hover around the 11 or 9 energy costs, actually. So, with a potato, you'll easily cram 6 mods on most weapons.

At this point, the gun is normally good enough for lvl 40-50 and you can properly apraise it.

In fact, most weapons won't need much more than this to work. But if you're looking for that extra killy power, read on,

Some weapons come with Polarized slots. Each slot can have a little symbol drawn in it and mods also have symbols like this.

Most people called them "D", "V", "slash", etc.

They're kinda themed ("D" for defense, "slash" for offense…) but what matters to you is that when you put a mod with a matching polarity on the right slot, the mod costs HALF energy.

So a 12 energy mod is now 6.

There's some fuckery with rounding (15 becomes 8) and if you mis-match mods, they'll cost 50% more instead (never do this).

What this means in practice is that you can essentially double the energy (if you forma'd every mod slot).

That's a total of 120 energy. Meaning 15 energy per slot.

Obviously, you'll never need to reach this high, it's just to show you that with enough forma, the only thing that limits you are the 8 slots and the base stats of the weapon.

One small tip: Frames can equip "Auras" and mellee weapons can equip stances. These are mods too but they work in a diferent way: instead of occupying energy from your cap, they increase the cap itself. Matching polarities doubles the effect, so it's pretty fucking important to keep the matched. Most auras will net you 14 extra energy (that's another mod you can isntall) and stances can give you 8 more energy (enough to squeeze one mod more).

Your weapons and your frame will always be shit without mods.

Finish the starchart to unlock places to farm said mods.

Read through the wiki on where to find them.

Ask other players for help (everyone has duplicates of everything, you too will in a couple months) and remember:

His 1 looks like a short range, short duration elec-damage dealer that does jackshit.

His 3 is pretty good but last less than Mag in Kuva Fortress.

His 4 is… okayish I guess? I mean, damage is shit, range is shit, a simple pipe blocking line of sight will prevent it from affecting enemies and even when it does, it's just more ragdoll CC for a short while and 100 FUCKING ENERGY.

I really like the idea of a tacticool spec-ops frame, but I noticed I end up using guns 99% of the time and only end up spending energy throwing bouncing "traps" beneath my teammates at extraction while we wait for another player.

If you can bring it's speed up without sacrificing much power, it's good fun. Pick for power and find a Riven to make it hit harder and faster. I think it was the Crushing Ruin stance that makes you able to spin around ragdolling everything. If you have good speed + power, you will be the ultimate crowd control machine. What isn't caught in your Bastille or Vortex will be sent flying for miles because of your ultra-fast spinning hammer. You'll be moving so fast that enemies won't even get to recover from your previous spins.

I don't have the game on-hand ATM, so I'll try and remember what I had. Good that you have Blood Rush, you can get the weapon to go fast with Berserker. I don't have BR but I've managed without it. I have a Riven that helps with speed, crits and gives elec damage, rest went into Impact for shits and giggles. I think I got around 2500 damage with all the impact/elec mods on it. I don't rely on it as a high-end build, but it's good fun, and is at it's best with Vortex.

I've been playing around with the client since posting earlier and it looks like I should be able to force my way into anyone's session, even if they already have four players. Eh, the RE community tends to be very well behaved. Possibly because they can RE each other's tools and depend heavily on reputation. The games themselves are literally less trustworthy these days, especially Unity games with the built-in telemetry support and SF devs who hate you.

Speaking from experience, when someone asks something in the RE comunity, the usual response is someone point you in the right direction or offering to teach you.

Consider that "script kiddies" don't really want to learn and instead go searching for an easier path. Once they leave for the fringes, they're easy prey for less well behaved individuals.

The RE community always thought me that the best way to figure out how to make something work the way I want was to figure out how it works in the first place.

Unity sells telemetry support as a service to game devs, kinda like the service model Amazon is trying to establish. The engine and editor now make it really easy to collect telemetry which goes to Unity's servers and you can access via their console. They charge you in various ways for the storage/network use.

The idea is, devs who wouldn't have otherwise been able to build something like this can use it to log exceptions and debugging messages and then fix bugs before you've even reported them. And it works well for that. I've worked on some larger Unity games that do this and it's actually quite nice with the full stack traces that being written in essentially Java affords you. If I need more information on a bug, I can add some debugging statements that get tracked, push out a new build, and gather that information without ever having to ask you for more information or you even knowing I'm working on it.

The problem is, Unity gamedevs are in large percent untrustworthy, backstabbing, social justice warrior human garbage and making taking your data easy for them has led to it being abused almost as the norm. They're collecting far more than you realize, and I've been in chats where they discussed using what webpages you have open against you (as they had collected that data when collecting all the processes their players had open).

I don't think you understand. Unity is providing the various aspects of data transfer, storage, access, authorization, etc. and also making some collection tasks part of the editor. But the gamedev can collect whatever data they want from your system by writing custom code, and they love collecting your process list. Unity's not the problem here, they're just enablers of malicious devs who used to be too incompetent to handle the infrastructure required for telemetry at scale.

I've got a miter riven with multishot and with the other multishot mods I'm throwing out 3-4 blades per trigger pull. So having taken khora through today's sortie and doing some testing in the simulacrum, she's actually not too bad. Your whip can do some okay damage once the combo counter is up and with a little range you can build it really fast. The only real problems with her are venari being retarded and is often on the other side of the map even if I have had a heal mark on me for the last 30 seconds, and that the CC on both strangledome and her 2 are really not great. Strangledome just throws people around, and her 2 would be good but it has that retarded delay on ensnaring other targets.

Currently she is lack luster on damage on higher levels and lacks CC from the range nerf on WOF, on low levels she was always ok on her 4, nothing really changed outside of killing any sane idea of bringing her into sortie 3 survival or defense. I kinda tested her these days on how to build her to sortie level stuff and she needs a rework, she lacks survivability, any open tiled encounter means her death as she lacks any DR option, her damage is worse than stug against armored stuff, her 1 is a useless solo ability, her 2 and 3 are spam cast small CC, her 4 was the ability in which DE put the most focus and killed all the fun, now she stills walks around low level shit not giving a fuck and does jack shit on higher level. At least she looks hot.

If you need damage on higher level stuff grab equinox, RQ banshee, or Volt if you know the tileset you are fighting is actually clustered in a small space.

Ok, do Ophelia Uranus Survival until you find some weird blue drones. They appear with a weird sound and idly scan nearby dead Grineer bodies. Scan them with your scanner and that will trigger the Natah quest. After Natah and beating Uranus, you'll unlock the Second Dream and then you will truly see.

Gonna give you some advice about archwing:

Pony up money or get into a clan that can unlock you research for it.

Build anything other than the Odonata.

Suck it up for a while, do archwing missions for mods.

It's gonna suck for a good long while, but after a good selection of mods drop and you mod it, it's very enjoyable.

I didn't have a clan so I just sunk some plat in it to get the Archwing directly.

Most people will feel "weak" but guess what: you're as weak as when you start playing warframe. No mods = everything you own is shit.

I think Archwing was poorly implemented. They should have made the missions dedicated to introducing the mode also give you a good chunk of basic mods.

I mean, by the time a new player leaves earth, he alreayd has 80% of the basic necessary mods to progress through the starchart.

But archwing has a lot less drops than normal mode, so after 10-15 missions, you'll be lucky if you get 20-25 mods, with 8-10 being duplicates.

I got that Ameesha one, it's great in a "I don't feel like dying today" way.

It's also making me consider switching to Unairo. Being a tank in this game/saving your teammates and standing tall against anything they throw at you is a great feeling.

You've done all the other quest stuff prior to this except Limbo, who is optional right? You also need MR3, but if you're at Uranus and you're not MR3 then you've either been carried or you're doing some kind of one weapon/one frame challenge and you like suffering. It's an additive chance to find the drones on any Uranaus sealab tileset, so just keep doing Uranus missions until you get a weird alien noise and get a blue-white flash on your screen. Once you see that, the next room or the one after that will have the drones you need to scan in it. Then you just finish mission and extract like normal and that will officially kick off the quest.

Still dont. Those packs are just terrible and lemme guide you to the answer why: Open up your codex, check dat mod page. See all those nifty mods you dont have? 30% are removed from the game, another 30% are not allegible for packs, the other 40% will drop the moment you stop farming for them. Thats only talking about the mods you dont already own, because you only get mods out of these you already own.

BTW, since Blood Rush may be too expensive sometimes I would recommend at least Gladiator's Rush.

Corrupted mods aren't in mod packs. For condition overload you are better off farming for it or just buying it with plat. The mod pool in the packs is so large. The chance of you getting one specific thing you need is lower than just farming for it normally. Especially if it is a rare mod you are after since you only get 2 guaranteed per dragon pack.

It's weird, Have seen all the tilesets so many times that I don't even really pay attention to the details of them anymore. I think that is just something that happens to that specific tiles doorway when it leads to that other tile since that room is lighter. Instead of making 2 doorway assets for those 2 tiles it is probably just using the doorway tile for the lighter room instead of the darker one you are in.

Lightning glitch, nothing special. Bows are in fact not shot that way most of the times, your pull and grabbing hands are usually located at center mass with the arrows on top. You still can though, theoretically an arrows being nocked at center will have maximum force delivered to it. At the same time humans arent able to put their maximum force into the bow since stagging would occur way faster and you shorten the overall length of your pull. Also higher stress to the lower limb would cause quicker material fatigue.

All of this doesnt apply to fantasy worlds so in the case of warframes using bows in general, who cares.

I have seen english longbows being pulled that way, just not to that extreme. Those are special though since the sheer length of the bow denies the full draw in principle, if shot normally. Stagging never occurs this way anyways and to avoid the bow touching the ground while shooting straight ahead you may actually be forced to draw below centermass.

This is an english longbow issue only and theres no bow in warframe with that kinda size.

It's pluck, you fucking pluck arrows, or loose them, you don't shoot or fire or unload or plug someone with arrows. Number two, when you're holding a bow, you keep your fingers on all of your components so they don't wobble about as you're moving; it's the same thing as trigger discipline but it's kinda backwards in a way. Thirdly, your arrow will not sail straight if it's loosed from a place that is not center of mass on the bow. This doesn't mean that the bow must be symmetrical, it just commonly is for the sake of design simplicity. It also doesn't mean an asymmetrical bow will not pluck properly or straight; in fact, at greater distances an asymmetrical bow will continue to travel in a straight line. If you subtract all the extra needless shit off it, that's a breddy gud design if it were a bit longer; that would honestly probably draw pretty well, those frenchies did some research.
