Microtransactions are your bread and butter. 95% of the people never buy anything but 0.5% can each spend hundreds of dollars in a week. This has little to do with the way you make use of microtransactions, it's just the spending pattern in the general population, but by doing it in a specific fashion you can encourage these 0.5% to stay for very long time and pay continuously. Most prominently by selling a consumable items that help you progress through the game faster as well as give you an edge over other players. Selling skins have proven to be utterly ineffective in comparison. These 0.5% make 80-90% of your profits, this is why a lot of games don't have a paid version. Also you can implement what's basically a gambling machine, i.e. gacha and lootboxes, everyone is susceptible to gambling addiction, especially kids.
