Well, since you got dubs, I'll give you a crash course:

1. You need a "learn to play the game" character. Make a Juere Farmer, and take the Weight Lifting skill and the Exorcist (equipment is not randomly cursed), Hypnotism (can reliably damage even highly evasive enemies and probably temporarily disable them), and Dimensional Move (short-range teleport) feats.

2. Here's a world map for you: http://elona.wikia.com/wiki/File:North_Tyris_Elona_Plus.png After you complete the tutorial, head to Vernis to recruit a little girl (a fairly capable fighter, the unquestioned best choice for your starter pet), then go to the Truce Ground and convert to Jure. This gives you a strong healing ability. If your Faith skill is at least 15 and you sacrifice dozens of junk stones to Jure, she'll give you a strong pet that heals you and prevents you from dying once per day, but you don't have to worry about that right now.

3. Do quests for NPCs to gain platinum coins. As a Farmer, you can probably do the farming quests in Yowyn, and delivery quests can be good too, but you should probably avoid "fight these monsters" quests for now. It's always a good idea to pick up new skills, although this particular character will want to keep their Gardening potential up as well.

4. When you can, take the Knowledge of Magical Plants feat. When you reach L30 Gardening, that'll give you the Violent Garden ability, which is quite powerful and should carry you while you mess around trying things out.

5. A few other important details, off the top of my head: dead pets can be revived cheaply at any inn, the Etherwind starts up within the first 15 days of each month evenly divisible by 3 (that is, months 3, 6, 9, and 12), Nefia Fever is a good time to harvest materials from the random dungeons, and casino chips (a type of material) can be used to play blackjack, which is a reliable way to obtain potions that cure the ether disease (which you'll pick up eventually). Also, some of this (the Knowledge of Magical Plants feat and Nefia Fever) only apply to Elona+/Elona Custom.

>>14709459

As long as you're on Elona Custom, it should be translated. Also, the cutscenes that explain the story will be restored.

Why is being a farmer so profitable with the harvest quests

and also why is combat so shit in comparison

2558e7 No.14715639

>>14715582

You won't really start making money at combat-oriented quests until somewhat higher levels unless you take the ones where you escort somebody's gf (forget what they're called)

d1ebe0 No.14715917

>>14715582

Because farmers are all about the hoe!

But seriously, farming's the shit, especially with ranching. I can go back and forth between my farm, my ranch and my house just farming stuff, butchering some animals, cooking all of it and just as I sell everything, there's a new batch of plants and animals to harvest.

Seriously, shit's ridiculous, I almost wish you could hire servants to do it for you and automate this.

Everytime I leave the farm to do some dungeon delving I feel like I'm wasting my plants\animals.

>>14715639

No, no, no, no no! Those are the quests you definitely do not want! Whenever you take the "gf escort" quests, there will ALWAYS be a fight before you reach your destination with some high level dudes.

Instead, there's the simple escort quests where you will only fight at most the normal ambushes you get from traveling and there's also the "Before it's too late!" quests that are essentially the same thing but they pay a truckload of money. Just be sure to check the time and destination before you accept them.

The one thing that's disapointing me a bit is that Plat is somewhat harder to get from dungeon delving than from doing simple requests in town. In order to keep potential up, I'll need several coins, but going down a dungeon with several levels and being given a single Plat to finish it? That's kinda bullshit…

32e60d No.14715941

>>14715582

>>14715639

>>14715917

When you get to somewhat high level (50+) you can do the last hunting requests on the list which are usually 20-30k and give about 3 plat each. At that point "beauty and the beast" requests can give up to 90k but the enemies will be over level 100 and can instagib your escort.

d6823f No.14716027

Speaking of money, there's a way to do those impossible 2 days quests that require you to go from noyel to port kapul or derphy. You can earn 30-50k even at level 1 and it just costs you a scroll of return, to get back to your starting cave, and 10 karma.

I'm also making a lot with a putit ranch, i started breeding one with decent meat and now most drop 2 corpses, which i can turn into 5 jerky each that sells for around 700. Doesn't seem like much but in total i can make around 30k per week, per ranch if i get more. It's a lot more profitable than a farm which i'm having troubles sustaining the seeds, even with 58 gardening. At best i'm making 10k every 10-15 days because of rain and shitty RNG with the seeds from the quests, i'm mostly getting vegetable ones.

>>14723206

>What do messages about adventurers getting named items mean? Do they get dungeon loot and exclusive one time only items or just roll for item drops potentially duplicating guaranteed rare rewards?

This is the only question I can adequately answer. Those adventurers are NPCs and the named items are artifact items. Each artifact is unique but I think more get made as time goes on. Once an NPC adventurer has an artifact, you need to buy it from them, kill them, or convince them to join your party and then take it from them.

685741 No.14723295

>>14723268

>Each artifact is unique

What does make an artifact unique and what does it matter if more get created as the game progresses?

The question is more related to the urgency of ones actions than to a particular nature of the specific mechanic.

93e39d No.14723309

>>14723295

For most artifacts, doesnt matter since they're randomly generated. There are unique artifacts that can spawn on Adventurers and you need to steal it from them. They're usually thief related too.

>>14723295

An artifact is like any other piece of equipment except it comes with a shit ton more modifiers attached to it. As far as I know, it's a random set of modifiers that can sometimes clash. It's rare to find an artifact where everything it does is good for your build, so while there isn't much urgency, you still want to see as many as you can.

>Where do I get a rack of potions?

Buy in medium-ranked general shop, at random in dungeons or learn and use pickpocket to steal it if you find it in town.

>Where do I farm consistently for inherently cursed weapons that could roll "it hampers your growth."?

Raise faith skill and favor with gods to very high number ~6000?.

You will get most powerful training items possible.

>Do god pets use your charisma based party size limit as well as a faith one or just a faith one?

They are affected by both. To get all god pets you need 80 Faith skill.

>What do messages about adventurers getting named items mean? Do they get dungeon loot and exclusive one time only items or just roll for item drops potentially duplicating guaranteed rare rewards?

NPC adventurers get random generated artefacts after specific number of turns.

>How do I distinguish between generic appropriate to the stage enemies and rng spawns of hell without manually checking every single enemy via targeting?

If that monster isn't in B1F-B2F of puppy cave, just assume it could kill you.

It only applies to hostile ones.

>Is failing a cast more efficient than just casting a spell, stock wise?

Nope. It's even worse.

8d67bd No.14723531

>>14723206

>Where do I get a rack of potions?

Try the Embassy just north of Palmia. It has a couple of shops that only carry furniture.

>Where do I farm consistently for inherently cursed weapons that could roll "it hampers your growth."?

What possible purpose could something like that have for you? Did you read an outdated guide that says you need to stay low level to avoid being slaughtered by bandits? Leveling is purely beneficial in E+/EC, unless you're trying to reach South Tyris as a L1 Mutant with the aid of some inherited ~L200 monsters or something.

>Do god pets use your charisma based party size limit as well as a faith one or just a faith one?

Charisma determines how big of a party you can have. (Escorted NPCs and pets waiting at an inn count against the limit.) Faith determines whether you can receive another god pet if you already have god pets in your party.

>What do messages about adventurers getting named items mean?

The item in question has been added to their inventory.

>Do they get dungeon loot and exclusive one time only items or just roll for item drops potentially duplicating guaranteed rare rewards?

There's no limit on fixedart generation. If you pick up a unique item that's already in your inventory, it'll turn into useful stardust. (Or into a randart if you're on an old version.) I'm fairly certain the dungeon itself is unaffected, or at least your "instance" of it. (Nefia are mysterious things.)

>How do I distinguish between generic appropriate to the stage enemies and rng spawns of hell without manually checking every single enemy via targeting?

If you notice symbols around an enemy's name in the message log (e.g. a {wandering penguin}), that's one of those hellspawn.

>>14723295

>What does make an artifact unique and what does it matter if more get created as the game progresses?

There are three kinds of items that you might consider "artifacts": <Miracle> items, {Godly} items, and Precious items. Miracle and Godly items are randomly generated ("randarts"), and Precious items have predetermined characteristics ("fixedarts"). If you notice that an adventurer has found one, you might be able to hunt them down and trade with them to get it for yourself, which could be easier than finding your own copy of, say, the Super Lure.

"it hampers your growth." - is a modifier that randomly eats away at your exp whenever the check is passed on gaining some.

>Try the Embassy just north of Palmia. It has a couple of shops that only carry furniture.

Rolled for 30 times at least, didn't get any even once. It looks like they are limited to some extent since they never generated anything like training machines, high quality beds or cooking furniture either. Probably requires investing and increasing shop ranks but I'm not particularly sure about that either since there is nowhere to check such stuff for sure.

>Faith determines whether you can receive another god pet if you already have god pets in your party.

"The limit of the number of god pets you can possess is changed to one-tenth of your Faith, with a starting limit of 2."

They're basically weighted training gear for high-level players.

>Rolled for 30 times at least, didn't get any even once. It looks like they are limited to some extent since they never generated anything like training machines, high quality beds or cooking furniture either.

I'm pretty sure people have reported getting barbecue sets from there, although it probably does take investment.

>"The limit of the number of god pets you can possess is changed to one-tenth of your Faith, with a starting limit of 2."

Right, so if you have one god pet with you, you can receive a second one when praying with enough piety, but if you have two, you'd need at least 30 Faith to get a third. It's not really all that important since you can just drop pets off at the Doujou and they won't count as being in your party.

>I don't want to do a routine of paying taxes

I can understand that. Personally, I always buy a tax box from Miral; less of a pain that way. And there's the new pre-pay system, but I haven't tried out a version with it yet.

Still need an answer for

>Where do I farm consistently for inherently cursed weapons that could roll "it hampers your growth."?

>>14724046

>but if you have two, you'd need at least 30 Faith to get a third.

Thank you for your answers, but I'm not asking an explanation for obvious things (and by obvious I don't mean nuances and bits of info that I'm missing due to wiki being incomplete, by obvious I mean an explanation of what 1/10th means).

>He was talking about these

I know what he was talking about, it just wasn't relevant to the question that I've asked.

Have you tried dropping everything but a weapon and reading a scroll of curse? It wouldn't work if you have the Exorcist feat, but it's the only alternative I can think of to trawling the Puppy Cave.

>Thank you for your answers, but I'm not asking an explanation for obvious things

Right, I'll put it as plainly as I can, then:

There's no "god pet party size" system or anything. Charisma determines max party size, and if your party already has multiple god pets in it, Faith determines whether or not you can be awarded another god pet.

Yes, though I did that to an identified item. Wiki says that trait can only be generated on inherently cursed items, so probably cursing an item won't do jack, unless the generation is done when the identification is complete.

Also, cursed item rate is pretty low, unless (and I don't know if that's how it is or not) it influences the quality of an item to be lower (great->good, good->bad, etc).

New player again. Is there any specific god to go for? I want to do magic mainly but I can't make up my mind.

I picked Yacatect for my first God on my latest playthrough. The extra platinum from the Goose and the Gemstone made it easier to keep skill potentials high. I stuck with that until I got all the rewards, including Yacatect's God Jewel. Wearing that while buying/selling things was an easy way to train charisma via negotiation. The bonus to selling things also made making gold easier to do when starting out, which is really the only time that it matters. The goose sort of sucks as a companion. It got me into the habit of feeding my pets, though.

I recently switched to Kumiromi. The passive stamina regen from Kumiromi makes the reading party skill much easier to spam. Really, it makes using lots of skills more viable overall. Kumiromi's Scythe is also nice for the cooking and gardening bonuses.

Either of those two is pretty useful from the get-go. I've been trying to be more mindful of keeping my potentials high, rather than just focusing on my class and preferred method of killing monsters, and it has helped my playthrough a lot.

You might find Itzpalt's Absorb Magic ability handy.

What's a good way to level pets? My little girl, level 16 with 197 DV, died in a fucking danger level 5 dungeon. What a fucking nigger. The pet i got from my god is also falling behind, it's still level 12 while i'm level 21.

Definitely worship Itzpalt at some point because his 2nd reward boosts the damage of your fire/ice/lightning spells by 25% permanently. Other than that Kumiromi and Lulwy are the typical late-game gods because stamina lets you use more abilities and speed lets you take more turns.

The usual method is Gene Engineering, although Juere Swordmen would only raise a pet to L15, and they're the highest-level slaves you can buy at L21.

I'd like to know just what killed your little girl, because 197 DV ought to be evasive enough to survive in a L5 dungeon. Was it a roomful of spellslingers? Chain explosions from a swarm of kamikaze monsters? A Big Daddy? Did she fall into a well?

d6823f No.14731918

>>14731802

No wells. No big daddies. No kamikaze swarm. I was steamrolling through the dungeon for some loot and by the time i noticed she disappeared the log was already full. I checked back in town at the pub guy and it confirmed it, she was ded. I have no clue what happened.

I'll look into gene engineering i guess, maybe level some more myself until i can get better slaves.

What I do besides gene engineering is getting their potentials high with large picnic baskets then hopping into a dungeon with just 1 pet and let them kill everything. It works decently well assuming you're willing to put the time in to grind them. Also make sure you gene engineer travelling on all your pets if they don't already have it, that shit gives you massive amounts of exp

f0232a No.14732405

>>14732394

I should mention I usually make sure the dungeon is about 2-3 levels lower than the pet, preferably, just for safety's sake. Pet's dying usually isn't a big deal but letting it happen enough times makes them tsundere and they stop making tasty breakfasts for you
