It's fun for a little bit, but the moment your farm grows it stops being fun, because there is no way to actually automate your farm. I've tried playing the game 3 times, and petered out immediately by the time I buy the third expansion.

The character design is awful but its a first person game so you rarely have to look at it. The gameplay is fun in the same way stardew valley is so if you enjoyed it then you'll enjoy slime rancher too. But just like stardew valley you have to give yourself goals to move toward or else you'll just do the same thing day after day and find it tedious and boring.

I also doing this research on mobile, so not putting as much effort into it.

I do remember determining myself that the dev team were sjws as well. I was pissed off because I found out after being 5 hours into the game, so I couldn't refund it.

Now the devs for night in the woods are true sjws. They even got the full goony beard and colored hair and tweets to match. Refunded the game in under and hour after in-game clues prompted me to research them

As for the game itself, I must say that it is very well designed and engineered. Responsive and fluid controls. Great model design and art. Good sounds. Love all the cutesy plops and ploops and splashes. However, game gets real boring and monotonous. I lost interest after expanding only a few times. It's a shame because the game has great potential

The only real fun in it is exploring the island, and it ends up being smaller and emptier than you'd think. Raising slimes is just collecting them, plopping them in a pen, then occasionally feeding them. There's very little danger to raising them, as long as you aren't stupid. There's not much customization to the ranch, either. Pens, silos, and farms all have to be placed in a pre-designated placement spot. Now, once you get far enough, you can start engaging in "science", which allows you to build different machines that you can place most anywhere, but, by the time you get to it, you're probably almost done, if not already done, with the main game. All that's left, after the ending, is just optimizing your ranch to grind currency faster that you only have cosmetics left to spend it on. And the cosmetics take a shit ton of money if you want them all.
