A unit is a huge and very tangible difference from a simple character. The cock-stroking and mary sue potential only really began when a unit was the player character in FE games and there is a larger degree of separation as well. Player characters can be implemented quite well in games and Mark was a very good example of one in my opinion.

I wish I could say Elibe as a series was best but 6 was straight garbage in terms of story.

I'd like PoR if the difficulty wasn't fucked thanks to the (((localization))). Same with Sacred Stones (though I don't know if that one was thanks to the localization or it just being fucked from development as a casualfest; still the story and characters were nice)

Ike from smash was what made me check out Fire Emblem, guess Ninty's marketing worked

PoR was okay, but RD just pissed me the fuck off. I was this close to just turning the fucking thing off and never finishing it, but I managed to steel my nerves and get through it all until the last part when my Ike was not equipped to defeat Zelgius so I was at a standstill and couldn't progress, so I quit there

My favorite was Sacred Stones since it had the most reasonable amount of challenge. I'm playing through the SNES games right now. On FE4 at the moment. Why the fuck are the levels so fucking long?

The maps were dumbed down compared to most the games that came before it. Most of the late game maps look like early game maps from 6 or 7. Radiant Dawn fixed that, but that game it's own issues. The merging of the mercenary class with the myrmidon class is what pisses me off the most about the Telius games. Also laguz suck.
