Watch the first 7 seconds back to back, it is very easy to notice how much smoother the 60fps version looks. However due to filesize restraints doubling the frames would also roughly double the webm size, so some compression measures had to be taken e.g. "corruption" as you called it during faster movement.

Yes, I realize that the guy playing is total trash. You see, when I play redout I get about 29-35 fps. I can't record myself playing. When I make webm's I have to use other people's content. I searched youtube for a good one, but there wasn't a single person on yt who didn't totally suck at it.

Any anons that don't use ffmpeg directly like Handbrake/Staxrip/webm for retards or bakas/webm.py or anything similar should check and see if they've updated to the 4.x "Wu" branch or not. Let's hope that the deblocking was improved in the encoder since the reference encoder's, aom, deblocking was awful it was on par with h.262's deblocking and that encoding speeds have been vastly improved.

Normally for VP9 when I use '-cpu-used 0', '-deadline good', 'tile-columns 0', and '-frame-parallel 0' for maximum quality I typically get encoding speeds of around x0.06 to x0.01 depending on the exact value of the bitrate and rate factor. On the same settings in AV1 I'm getting speeds of x0.002 to x0.00006 on 1 minute of 600p video. Not that bad really :^) kill me. Of course this is on my shitty toaster and on very high quality setting. For more sane settings for when you just need to webm a lazy anon's youtube embed you can probably get speeds of about 10 to 20 times faster when maximum quality isn't a top priority. So the speed seems to be an improvement over the reference encoder where I was getting speeds of x0.0001 but still not very usable yet and very much experiment only phase still.

I like seeing compression/encoding technology advance. I have a ton of raw video that was encoded in lagarith then I moved it to HEVC and I may move it to AV1 when it's complete. The process can take days but it's literally free storage gains. Going from lagarith to HEVC-lossless saved me hundreds of gigabytes. It's like moving from wav to flac, it's worth doing.

My machine is just an i7-930 which is well outdated at this point, I run it at 4.2Ghz though.
Never had any issues with it. For my personal video, everytime there's a new lossless standard I re-encode, it takes days but I only have to do that once every few years.
For everything else I'm okay with waiting, the thought in my mind is that I'm going to encode it once, people are going to play it back an infinite number of times and send it all over. No reason for the files to not be optimal if they can be.

Yeah I looked over those videos a couple times, and you can hardly see any differences. Theres just more corruption on the later videos. I constantly run games on 144, have a 144hz monitor, and my eyes hurt when I go below 60 for any period of time yet I see nothing wrong in these videos.
I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure with animation you cant necessarily increase the frame rate since each frame is drawn and already has a set amount of frames per second. While with games you can increase the frame rate due to it being in real time thus resulting in the game becoming smoother. Most of you must be seeing things that are not there.

For anyone who does not recognize this track, it's "Work Harder" from the OST of that suddenly popular Steam game "Lisa: The Painful RPG". The Lisa trilogy brings something close to the classic Hong Kong Kung-Fu movie feel to video games, with its blend of somber reflection, slapstick humor, really creative violence and the realization that nobody is going to achieve their goals if they keep acting like giant children kicking each other on the playground. Severe mood whiplash might seem strange, but it's a crucial ingredient for Chinese cinema in general. Notably, the track also samples a voice clip from the Dreamcast game "Shenmue 2". Yes, the voice clip sounds just as dumb in context. Now, let's talk about Infowars. Let's talk about "problematic" stuff in general. The implication of syncing this track to this news anchor is that he's the equivalent of a grunting middle aged pro wrestler. The mistake is imaging that everyone who disagrees with you is like that. Come to think of it, his whole speech is about what he believes are his rights as a living being. Regardless of how nasty he is elsewhere, you can really tell that he believes his whole way of life is in danger. That is why so many YouTube commentators are being nasty little manchildren. It's not because they want to destroy the world, it's because their world is already destroyed from their perspective. Regardless of if that's true, we're not going to get anywhere diplomatic unless we can give the whole world respect, not just the people who can afford it or the people who look sad on television. That we have an angry red potato in a business suit making a whole point of view look bad is besides the point.
