Is there even a point to getting a Flashcart when its main purpose is playing Nintendo DS games on the SD card, but you use the Nintendo DS game cartridges you bought anyway?

f19e89 No.14669570

The point is to not buy them, dum dum

The point to some is to use them to get CFW on your old 3ds if you can't access the internet initially with it due to it being ancient like I had to do.

Kinda thinking I might not buy one.

The point is to be able to play pirated games, and be able to play romhacks and fantranslations, all for use on the actual system.

So NES, SNES, N64, GBA, NDS ROM Hacks?

Okay so I think I'm gonna get this one. Good buy or not?

DS would be an obvious priority for sure, but I think compatibility with the rest would depend on whether the particular flash cart can handle them. I'd highly doubt N64 though.

Yeah I wouldn't really expect N64. I only included it because the 3DS is capable of running N64 remakes (Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Star Fox) so I thought maybe there's a chance it might be able to run N64. But I honestly wouldn't expect it to be able to.

IIRC that the DS already can handle GBA games natively.

>>14669742

Remakes are a different beast, they're run in the processor directly, if you're emulating you're making a virtual computer and running the games on it, obviously the performance takes a hit if your machine isn't powerful enough.

Is that entire line discontinued now? Because I remember seeing some comparison chart that made it out to be one of the best ones you could get. My old flash-cart crapped out a while back, so I've been meaning to look into other makes.

>>14669749

The DS could due to backwards compatibility, but it needs to enter GBA (one-screen) mode to utilize it, with the GBA slot being a seperate one from the DS cart one on the Fat/Lite models. Not sure a flash cart in the DS socket can tell is to shift over, or if you'd need a GBA flash cart as well.
