I liked Dead Space 2 for the horror in the city vibes, but I remember thinking the ending was a bit retarded or maybe it was that I didn't care for the Ellie character. Having said that, the series should have ended with 2. Isaac had a nice ending and he found some sense of peace at last. If they wanted to make a third game, they should have left Isaac alone and either covered the early story in the Yucatan or do more side stories where they cover events from the perspectives of other characters not tied to Isaac.

I don't like this criteria. They're still shitting themselves pretty hard but western devs are on another level. Nintendo with their DLC models and their treatment of fangames and increased takedowns of ROMs and things like that doesn't endear me at all to them. AM2R was my last straw in terms of me ever giving them money again.

Falcom is also starting to make cancerous mobile games, sad as I am to admit.

Atlus is sort of the Blizzard of Japan at this point (though still in a much better position than Blizzard actually is; I'm more referring to the fact that the best people at Atlus pretty much all already left).

Platinum games, Monolith Soft (I think) and Vanillaware are still good with no blemishes so far in my eyes afaik.

Well yes. Western devs are pretty much objectively inferior to nip devs in current year. The only western companies that might be able to even have a chance of holding their own are a few scattered indies and AAs, and publishers who give said companies a chance to shine.

one thing that I do feel is important to note though that while nip games as a whole are overall higher quality than western games it doesn't mean that their own quality isn't falling.

Atlus hasn't made a good SMT game since strange journey on the DS and they're remaking the new one to be cancerous with a mary sue character they randomly decided to insert, and DLC models that didn't need to be there either. They also remade Radiant Historia but ruined the best ending and other shit in it as well.

I'm not even going to mention shit like #FE and whatnot; I also feel that Nintendo has been shitting out remakes (that are usually worse than the things they were remaking, such as ALBW), remasters and ports of their own products because making something original would be too hard. BotW and Odyssey (which I don't personally like but don't wanna shit up the thread with opinions on those games) are the exceptions, not the rules in Nintendo's case. Their 3DS library is more known for remakes than anything else and that was what they were surviving on for the past 6 years afaik (excluding last year where their switch boom has been netting them a lot).. The quality as a whole has been falling, in my opinion and its being excused for the reason of that they're not as bad as the west. It never will be, which is part of the problem I'm seeing.
